Im looking to get back into the subwoofer club after being away for 20+years (my last setup was a pair of Orion DVC 15" in an S10 Blazer!). I just want a single sub, 8" to 10" behind the rear drivers side seat in my '13 DC Taco. I don't mind pulling the plastic storage to make one fit.

Easiest option would be to buy a pre-built enclosure and add a good sub. What's out there that will fit? I also am not against building something. If that's the case, what sub would be ideal?

    Thanks!
    Matt

you will want to get a shallow mount sub. i run 2 10" sundown audio sd3 subs behind the seats with a middle amp rack. I personally made the box, which can be a bit tricky if you dont get the measurements right.

Mr Marv makes boxes, taco tunes makes boxes, and a couple other people makes boxes. I personally like the quality of Mr Marv's boxes, he makes cabnets by trade so he makes some really nice enclosures.

As most people who read about them can agree, I want the SA-8, but Im afraid it's too deep? It's 6 5/8" deep, and a box I was looking at is 6" deep. Could I use this box with the SA-8 if I use a spacer ring? If so, I'd need a port too...

Love it and I have a Bass Control Knob up front to control it as it jams hard.

5 Channel Alpine I forgot which one but I can search and find it. Alpine isn't the best but it's been in there for 2 years without issue.

I would say that a sub with 4"-5" mount depth will be the max you will get. Also the size of the magnet will play a huge part in fitting in the box. I also have 2 sa-10s that do not fit in my enclosures because the magnet hits the cut out on the rear of the enclosure.

OP i agree with these guys for sure. I'm in a '17 dcsb and haul my family so i can't lose seats.

i have a MR marv box for a 2 Ohm JL 13TW5. it's crammed behind the rear seats with all the plastic removed. no way w/o totally removing the plastic with that sub... it's a tight fit. that's on a 500/1 with a Alumapro 5F cap and it kicks way more than my floor and ceiling can handle. so i also use the JL bass control knob, and that's where the magic happens for SQ.

    good luck!

I'm in the process of making one now for truck. It's kind of a bitch with the angles of the box and what not but..already had the MDF laying around so isn't costing me anything but time to make the box. Just waiting for my sub to arrive on Friday to verify it fits with my current box design.

I had a single Sundown SD 2 8” that fit perfectly behind the seat without any adjustments. Was able to build a rectangular box that fit below the crossbrace and I didn’t even have to remove the plastic off the back of the seat

In the bed of your truck...

i have a hi-lift jack in the bed, but i also have hi-lift jack points on my truck

I have a couple cheap home depot storage trucks to keep all my camping gear stored in my garage, i just throw them in the back on the truck and i am good to to.

Ammo cans attached to the bed rails work really nicely to hold tie down gear, recovery gear, etc.

I also have a RTT so my tent is good...

Inside though i have an viair air compressor, jumper cables, tool roll, breaker bar, towel, and TP under the seats.

I also have a seat back molle platform with molle pouches attached to hold my winch remote and cable, walkie talkies, charging cables, gloves, spare batteries, etc.

There is plenty of ways to store your gear bro.

Get a mid rack, that will help store a few things up and out of the bed.
