What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

It has been 90k miles since I last paid the dealership to clean the throttle body. I figure it's a bit overdue, and noticed it's looking gnarly in there when I did the spark plug change last month. Here is how it looked before I started:



Here it is after. Now that TW forum has helped me become a do-it-myself mechanic, I won't let it go so long next time.


Now, I'm not experienced, so I'm hoping someone could tell me if it's normal to have such a wide gap between the bore and the choke. I can easily see daylight through there in places. I'm also seeing quite a bit of wear on the left side as circled in the next picture. 320k miles on this TB assembly.

I also cleaned inside the IAC (not pictured). Replaced the philips screws with hex socket head screws to make it easier to get it apart next time.

 

a second gen shortbed net fits perfectly in my bobbed first gen bed.

 

With all that BTTF stuff I think you made the right call with a black (soon to be) 4WD Toyota truck. Surprised no bedlight rack w/ 4 KC lights up top and tube bumpers?

Ti-Ci-kne-sium (special metal blend of one herb four spices) Moog parts only come with zerk fittings because they need all the help they can get. I don't think they sell soy sauce in a grease tube

 

1)Make sure you installed the check valve and in the correct direction
2) the tube on the left side goes to the power brake booster
3) 1st tube in back goes to evap canister
4) 2nd tube in back goes to the PCV valve
5) fast idle hose from vacuum diagram has to T into the supercharger by
throttle body and continue to the other side into the one way check valve

 

Fuck it. I'm doing this 4x4 conversion tonight. I have everything ready to go, I can't wait anymore.

Some photos, I have a fuel regulator connected that uses a vacuum from supercharger too,

Make sure check valve hose starts at high idle vacuum diaphragm and "T" s into supercharger
and goes to the other side of engine to the check valve.

I love my pneumatic, used hand op for 40+ years, until about 5 years ago. Wouldn't want to go back. Big advantage is that you can hold the tip and maneuver it for stubborn ones, while pumping the grease with one hand.

 

Mine still has it's first tube of grease cause I always end up somewhere out of range if the hose and I'm too lazy to plug it into the OBA on the truck haha. It is convenient when air is nearby though. I always use my one handed trigger style gun still have a free hand in case I need to hold the driveshaft or something.
