There is a spot on state college and Chapman behind the grill that’s on the corner ... they sell all sorts of metal

 

I was hoping for something closer to Huntington but so far its my best bet

 

they wouldnt show up for some reason on maps when I was looking

Damn all this gun talk and I missed it

 

Well I followed all of @itaro advice and went ahead and got me the FN 5.7.

 

Industrial metal supply in Irvine is/was my go to for any metal needs. They also sell AR500 for targets.

 

What are you using as a stand?
My setup doesn't last very long.
Was using steel wire hung by some hooks on a 2x4s with those cheap sawhorse brackets.

 

I use these2 of these 3way black pipe fittings with a black pipe cross bar and 2 black pipe legs on each side. Then I just hang the steel target with some chain and bolts.


This was an earlier attempt that used rebar

Once in a while it still gets shot but it holds up pretty good

This is what I'm working with. Has held up o.k. The wires are the ones that don't make it after a days worth of shooting. Have to replace a couple times.

 

Maybe learn to shoot better ?

I've also heard rubber holds up really good to multiple hits. I bought some but haven't cut it into strips yet to hang my targets. I bought some 18 wheeler mud flaps that have the reinforced fibers in it.

 

I've heard of something like that.....aiming is it?

 

The wires are strong enough, it's the rubbing on the steel target from the back and forth that does them in. I bought some 1/4" plastic tubing and cut into 1" pieces to help it out. Going to try it out this weekend.

My brother made one similar to yours with the chains as well, but at 100+ yards and only using iron sights, nothing really tends to hold up as you can see from the peppering. lol
