I had a similar thing happen to me, price was agreed upon and a deposit was made. The truck came in and was posted online same with the vin at a lower price than what I had been quoted. I printed off the online ad and brought it up while I was with the finance guy and he then gave me the better price. I think that piece of paper saved me like 700 bucks.

Purchasing a vehicle is an experience regardless of the winning/losing side your on. We all work hard for our $$$ and knowing we did our best to get the best possible deal is worth it to some (myself included). I've spun the wheel and got crappy salesman and horror stories just like the next guy all to save the maximum amount, but I can look back and smile knowing I walked away from a deal I was content with. OP isn't here to get flamed, he is going through the purchase experience and was sharing it on a forum with other Taco enthusiasts with hopes of support.

I drove 5.5hrs to a dealer to save an extra $1250 for my 18' Taco this month. That was after I already ordered the truck from a local dealer and played the "can you match or beat your competitor" email game. Your free time is your free time, do with it as you please.

Good look in Friday, keep us posted, I'll be rooting for you.

My dealer did none of this bullshit. We negotiated the price, and in about 2 hiurs i was out of there with a good price and everyone was happy.

Dude is playing physical and mental gymnastics with a bunch of dealer dudes trying to give them his bank. Seems fucking stupid to me.

Plenty of dealerships arent total shitheels.

ok so what has the dealer done wrong? in an effort to earn someone's business they are giving away their profit margin... they even involved a manager to ensure the customer feels he's being taken care of and has gotten all the money he will get out of the deal.
The "customer" on the other hand has purposely lied to people and made fake email accounts to try and get someone to make a mistake, and then try and make them honour a mistake.

so the prices are slightly different by a few bucks, highway robbery I tell ya!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

They aren't the only game in town OP

My dad is a hard baller like you and thought he weaseled a deal on my moms Venza, but they got him for 2k in the fine print

I live close to 3 Toyota dealers, I had to go 45 measly miles to get my deal and it saved me 4k.

Southern California has very competitive pricing when it comes to Tacomas, I told three dealers to piss up a rope with their bs and came out fine

Yup. I went to my local dealer to talk, the salesman and I took a seat and he pulled out this giant Rolodex type presentation and started this spiel about how the owner doesn’t negotiate because fair this and fair that, as he flipped the pages of this script with pictures... I didn’t waste any of our time, small talked a little and left. I made my decision I wouldn’t be spending my money there, ended up going to another dealer that actually had my build, and this dealer happened to be on the same page as me. In and out.

And how much time will you waste going there and leaving unhappy and startig over. How much of our time have you wasted and how much of yours will you waste when you have to start over.

For $300 more dollars just go to autonation. Buy it and enjoy it.

Unless you are paying cash, this seems like a crazy waste of time and energy to me. If you are financing this for ~60 months you are debating <$20/month. And that’s assuming you’re not putting $ down. I’m assuming someone with your haggling ability has saved and is putting a nice chunk of change down on this, which makes all of this make even less sense.

I also special ordered my truck. I got right around invoice for a special order truck with exactly what I wanted. Did I get the best price? No, but I got a fair deal and the dealer has been good to work with after the purchase. There is value to having a good relationship with the dealer you bought your vehicle from. Especially on these 3rd gens with their teething issues.

Lol on the "poor dealer" angle. I'd love to see a forum for car salesmen with a thread title "F'ing Customer Got Me!"

I played the e-mail game and got a decent deal, ordered for an agreed upon price. Salesman brought an invoice out for $2500 over the agreed price on delivery day. I told them to take the shit off and they did. Still tried to screw me though.

I haven't wasted any of you time. I am not there beside you making you be here. If you do the math, which might require you to use a calculator because you don't have enough fingers and toes to count that high, there is $750 difference in the price.

Just curious, are you financing this purchase? If so, at what interest rate?

Will be trading in my 2015 and have the rest in cash. As far as a fair deal, if they would have gave me the price of $34,754, I would have been ok with that because it is around invoice price from Costco and nada book.
