So assuming you’ve got the trade in value dialed in with all dealers you’ve been talking with?

Dude, you are doing it wrong. Only negotiate the difference, not both.

Sorry, I didn't realize that you misread it. I don't understand why people think it is sorry of me getting different quotes from the same dealer. No different if I was getting ahold of 5 different dealers and having them compete.

except it is slightly different. How do you think it'll play out when the GM and Finance manager all figure out you've been going to different people trying to negotiate different prices on the same truck you already ordered with another salesman.

i'll give you a hint, probably not like you think. ie you might get the truck at the haggled price but i bet the pressure and waste your time until youre tired and frustrated and take a bath on trade in.

:facepalm:So you’ve had all these talks with Mohamed, BJ Stinkfist, etc.. on pricing for this truck yet you haven’t negotiated your trade in value as a part of that conversation?

I don’t see this ending well. At least you own your 2015 outright though so nothing lost in all this if it does blow up.

You are correct. Everything I have read says to negotiate the price of truck first and then you bring in the trade value. If we can't agree on a final deal, then I will walk.

Did you read anything that mentioned if you own your current vehicle outright, you should probably sell that first in a private sale to maximize value, then go into the dealer and make a cash deal?

You have to take away knobs for the salesmen to turn. The fewer they have the better for you. Playing the price and trade-in game is tough (2-knobs). Luckily you aren’t financing, then you’d have to play the interest rate game along with price and trade-in (3-knobs).

In Texas you don't pay taxes on the trade difference. So if they are close to the trade quote I already have, then it would save me between 1500-2000 in taxes. If the number is not right I will let them know I am selling my truck myself.

Lol op, the people bitching are most likely snake oil salesmen, hence their salt at you trying to get it at the lowest possible amount and most trade. I do the same thing as well. I dont owe any dealership crap and am willing to make it a long process to ensure the best deal. You take the time and get the best deal you can and dont give them one penny more than you want. Forget what you are comfortable with. They make there money on the people here not willing to haggle or negotiate.

i just checked my business card, it says art director, but the other side does say reptile lubricant purveyor.

...but, the other side does have these names on it Tommy Chau, Sam Scarlett, BJ Stankovich and Muhammad Ahmed

good for you.....but the majority of dealers are real jerks looking to screw you out of every cent they can...stupid to you maybe...but don't fault someone who is just sharing his experience.....if you don't like what he is saying ,,,,turn the channel

Cussing is not illegal, you should never be willing to change your behaviour for someone's feelings.

ok Matt Pinfield. You have a blatant disrespect for the ellipsis...probably doesn't matter.
