I'm putting down my pitchforks... Directly with Allstate. I'm ready for this to be over and sick of dealing with them. Still not sure just how expensive it'll be, but I gave in to get it finished.

But, even though on Friday, my agent admitted that the woman i talked to said word for word what I was told (and added a single "maybe" into her standard statement), he now is basically saying I lied and they never said anything close to what I "heard".

I knew there was nothing in it for me money wise (just for the lender, which benefits me in no way) and i made it clear my problem was with being misinformed about my policy about the one person who was supposed to help me.

But hey, don't admit your wrongs, then go and call me a liar. After it's closed out we'll see what the state of Colorado/Insurance Commissioner has to say about your insurance malpractice buddy! The ball was in your court and you want to play dirty.

And for the record.. had he just called or even emailed like he did today and didn't completely admit guilt but said "I understand how you could've misinterpreted what she said as...."

I would've been happy as long as they said they would make sure nobody else got misinformed. But, if you don't take this as a lesson to learn, heads up, that's still coming.

Well... fast is already long gone. There's a bunch of annoyances so far. The adjuster was a useless POS on many different levels and is mainly to blame for how long its taken. Simply because he just didn't do anything, which resulted in me paying now two car payments and insurance payments for a vehicle I did not have. He'll be addressed through Allstate. But the issue I have now, that will be brought up to powers well above my agent are relating to the fact that I was mislead about my coverage.

I purchased insurance, and asked the licensed people who should know, or at least find the correct answer plain and simple what it covered, multiple times... Literally said "I may have $10-15k of aftermarket; is it covered with my current policy?" I was told YES each time, and to keep receipts and it would be depreciated. I now know that this is not true at all, my agent FIRST (on Friday) said that his agent regularly tells customers to "keep receipts and you might be reimbursed the depreciated value." His tone now (today) became "you never asked over the phone (so you must have never asked in person), and we would never say something like that."

If this happened while on my road trip, I can guarantee I would've been close to if not over those numbers. AND, they would have told me the same, sorry we lied to you but it is your issue not ours and I would be down $12k or more instead of the $5-6k hit its looking like now.

To sum it up, I now know the truth about my coverage and on a standard auto policy they will cover $1k of aftermarket stuff that is bolted on or secured to the vehicle (topper, winch....). The $1k is a "value added" number, has no relation to what you spent on it and is calculated similar to how the value on Kelly Blue Book goes up if you select that it has a hitch. Anything that is auto related such as seat covers or stereo is a "customer preference" and worthless to them. Anything personal is a separate claim for homeowners or renters.

FYI- I was told the same exact thing as you (Covered with Receipts), so I just asked for it in writing. We will see where this goes...

In writing or give it a try over the phone.

And i have an easy free app called "call recorder." In Colorado you can record your calls, then you have them over voice as well.

    Shout out to @eccracer104

Have the Decked drawer system and caltrend dura-plus seat covers ordered and on the way. Then I'll be more excited to use it so it doesn't get too dirty.

On my old truck I asked about this and my agent told me the truth and what I had to do. In my case it was because I had the WilderNest and wanted to make sure, so we put a rider on the policy for an agreed value. At the time it was easy because I had a receipt for what I paid so there was no question. It seems like a no-brainer for the insurance company because they got extra $20 on each premium payment for it. My agent wasn't the least bit phased, it's apparently a common thing for collectible or unusual cars (he happened to have a sweet 1970 Mach 1 Mustang).

Funny, I actually did get it in Writing yesterday, then again I use USAA which is only for military and their Descendants.

Really if you qualify to get it, I highly recommend them.

Finally through the first tank of gas. Two trips up and down from the front range and I've managed 17mpg according to the truck computer for the tank which is the max epa rating.

Not excited about filling up the 38 gallons she holds..

Put duratracs on in the stock size. 50% gravel driving I'll be doing along with potential for snow drifts and I wanted to have something good on there.

How are you not a MOD yet, this has to be the longest anyone has gone converting to a Tundra without gaining Moderator status in the history of TW.

Explored a side road today some i had some better tires i could trust, and spare time.

    1227171133a_HDR.jpg

And since I'll be throwing tools and dirty dogs in the back... Made a full coverage floor liner.

I'll get some black carpet and cover it. Just want to keep the stock carpet looking nice and had the liner leftover from a job.

    1227171407.jpg

Really want to figure out a way to access the wasted storage space behind the rear seats. It seems like the same size space as the second gens when you remove the storage bins.

I'll probably get a bit more liner (that was all i had) and add a lip on the front to dump any water onto the floor mats and also extend both sides to go over the door sills.

I'm thinking I might need to bring the Tundy in for service already. :annoyed:

When I had a brand new Tacoma, Toyota stated that the loose feeling and shimmy in the steering wheel and the driveline vibrations were normal for all pickup trucks. BUT I haven't had any of those yet and its been nearly 600 miles. :crapstorm:

You probably should have went up a size so you don't have to upgrade again to fill the wheel wells once you get that lift on the truck. Have you decided what lift to go with? Are you going to need a cab mount chop on these? What about the camper shell? Sliders? Probably going to need a winch and front bumper too. Do they make extended range tanks for the Tundy?
