FWIW anything can be a trail bike, but this is if we're talking about serious competition bikes. It's like comparing a walmart mtn bike, to a custom built downhill bike. They can both cruise the trails, but one is obviously superior.

Dident realize it was all there models till I whent back and looked up the product like...

every bike in supercross and motorcross are 4 strokes. Since there introduction in the races have they dominated and everyone’s switched over. Ricky Carmichael (GOAT), Jermey McGrath, James Stewart,.. they all are on 4 stroke power

Hard to consider mx or sx off road racing just because it's dirt. I guess it technically is but I wouldn't go bragging that that I took my truck on a dirt fsr and made it through. Also RC loves his RM 250 way more than anything else ;)

I'm not sure why I'm supposed to give more than zero fucks about what professional racers are using. I'm not buying one for bragging rights and I can guarantee I won't be sending it off of any triples or entering any races. Just a way to explore the back roads and single track quicker than a vehicle would.

Lol, more like the motorcycle way... Everyone "needs" a liter bike that they'll only ever use to 5% of it's capability. Sure a 250 dirt bike will be more than enough for me.

That's a whole other can of worms. Dirt vs street, hard to compare.

250 should scoot me around, and be light enough to pick up all the time. :p

Or just get one of those mountain bikes that have a motor.

Who here is talking about motorcross riding? Last I heard all you peeps are trail riding your heavy 450's. To each their own though, ride what you got. Tiny Brett is riding a little 2 stroke 150 and having the time of his life... @aero3685 enjoy that dirtbike you got, trail riding on a dirtbike is a whole different kind of fun!

I didn't know they existed but there was a guy zipping around on one that looked just like that when I went riding in Moab.

I've never dirt biked, only street bikes so far.. and that one is my cousins that i can use.

Ride it, see how you like it. Get used to riding it then try out other people's bikes on the trail to see if you like them better or not and go from there. Just don't hop on @Squeaky Penguin and break your arm like someone we know. Then when the time comes get a street legal KTM 2 stroke :bikewhoops:

The 250s have a lot of power.
I was looking for a 250 when I stumbled on my 450 that was already plated and selling for less than 2/3 its market value on craigslist.
If I could trade it straight across for an identical 250 I would because my dirt bikes get tired and try to take naps a lot and a heavier bike is definitely less fun to pick up all the time.
2 smokers are nice and light and they put out more top end hp than the 4 strokes. I don't have one because I cant ride them properly. You have to keep them on the pipe (reved up) to get the power out of them. Less torque and no engine braking is just very strange for me.

At the end of the day, 2 wheels is a whole lot of fun :bikewhoops::headbang:
