Just got some bicyaco led headlamps from Amazon, and cant get them to work right. (1997 tacoma) I've tried all configurations at the plug, but nothing works right. If I ground it, and jump from batt. direct to low beam or high beam it's fine, but not from the veh. socket. Any ideas? Tnx!

try leaving one of the halogen bulbs hooked up and just one of the LEDs. If the LED lights up then, about the easiest fix (which I used on my 04) is to buy an H4 extension wire from Amazon, and create a pig tail that gives you two sockets, one for the LED and another that will hold the halogen bulb. These trucks sometimes need to have a certain amount of resistance for the LEDs to work right.

Thanks for that.. however, mine are the old sealed beam type, replacing the entire assembly. The resistance idea is a great clue.

I ran into the same problem when I added LED headlights. I tested by leaving one halogen bulb plugged as suggested above and the led light worked fine suggesting a need for a resistor as the headlight switch on the tacoma senses current to work I believe rather than just on/off.
Anyway I bought just one (didn't need two as one halogen light provided enough resistance) of these motorcycle headlight load resistors from superbrites and all works fine. And that was a couple of years ago. https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...ad-resistor-h4-led-headlight-bulbs/2932/6284/

The headlight switch just activates the headlight relay, so it doesn't sense how much current the headlights draw.
