How's it going everyone? I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab. I recently had new 17" wheels put on along with 265/70/115 tires. Unfortunately when I make a full or flexed turn there is rubbing that occasionally can be quite loud; however they do not always rub. The tires will sometimes hit some of the plastic casing in the wheel well. The last thing I want to do is buy smaller wheels and tires. So my first question is: Is the rubbing something that can be ignored? If the rubbing should be dealt with asap I thought a good solution would be to put a lift kit on the pickup to give the tires some more space. My fear with the lift kit is that it won't look good or worse won't be practical. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated! Here's a picture of my tacoma:

If it's rubbing plastic, just take a fresh razor blade and trim the plastic up so it doesn't rub anymore.

A lift will only solve the rubbing when the suspension isn't compressed. What are your alignment specs and where is it rubbing?

The rubbing is happening on the top back end of my two front tires. I believe my alignment specs are 2.3 on all.

Top back? Does that mean you’re rubbing your upper control arm? Pictures will help if you've got them.

I'll take some pictures and put them up a little later my pickup is actually in the shop right now. When the truck was stationary, I turned it on and had someone turn the wheel and you can see that it gets very close, like a centimeter or 2 close to the bottom right corner of the wheel well so the top right corner of the tire is hitting I believe. Although I am not certain because I have never actually seen it happen. A mechanic checked it out for me and what i explained is what he told me. Like I said it doesn't always happen so it's a little hard to determine exactly what is going on. The scraping noise will sometimes be pretty loud and sometimes more settle. Thank you guys for your help! I'm still pretty new to this stuff and this is my first Tacoma (4x4).

If its just the plastic fender liner you can reshape with a heat gun

I'll look into that. I really hope its just the plastic. That's what my mechanic thought but sometimes the noise is pretty loud so im not completely sure yet.

You've got a plate bumper and the truck looks fairly level in the pic so somebody's already put a lift of some kind in it.

I run 265/70/17s with no lift and I have no regular rubbing (only full turn and bumps).

So what is your backspacing on those wheels?

I think its the wheels or the bumper but that tire size should be no issue.

If the backspacing is an issue you need a different set of wheels or you can run spacers.
