At least our Toyotas are wired for the change. All you need is the control on the steering wheel. My wife's Honda requires a major modification to the wiring harness, along with the control. :(

My friend's parents have a house in the Poconos. This friend and another friend were both born on December 29th, 1988. As such, we always combine their birthday parties. This year, the party will be at the aforementioned Pocono house, and we will be there January 5th thru 7th.

It's looking like it's not gonna snow, which means I'll more than likely drive the Tacoma up instead of one of my parents' vehicles (parents both have all-wheel drive, Tacoma isn't 4WD). But still, look how freakin' cold it's gonna be that weekend. High of 12 and low of 0 on Friday! And that's probably without factoring in the wind chill!

    image.jpg image.jpg

Also, my Tacoma is due for an oil change in a little under 700 miles, so I'm probably gonna schedule that when I get back home from this Pocono trip...

18 degrees here with a wind chill that makes it feel like 7 degrees...

This is the type of situation where people can lose fingers and toes!

3 is the highest I’ve seen today. Earlier today I was in Veazie, ME unloading and saw -10 with a 25mph wind, that’s about-37 with the windchill. Blows!!! Taco started flawlessly though.

My Taco has never failed to start! On more than one occasion, I left my dome light on all night when we were going through one of these Arctic subzero cold waves, and the battery never died'

This was in 2014-2015, with the original OEM battery from 2009, and my truck still started!

And here's another Tacoma battery story...

I don't think it was that cold, but I definitely still had that same Toyota OEM battery. This was probably about 2014, and we were still living in our old house (a townhouse). Our neighbors were this Chinese family, and one night their friend (also Chinese) came to visit. This woman drove a fairly new Mercedes GL450, and she did not speak very good English. The battery in the Mercedes died, and somehow I found out about this.

My Tacoma was on the side of our driveway closest to the neigbor's driveway, so that's what we used. The Benz had battery on the right.

With the neighbor's permission, I jockeyed the Tacoma sideways and pulled it into his front yard, with my front bumper facing the the Benz's right front fender. My dad connected the jumper cables, and I started revving the engine.

This Mercedes went from almost totally dead (the interior lights came on, that's about it) to barely turning over.

What quickly became clear was that my Tacoma was not recharging this woman's Mercedes...

The Mercedes was merely siphoning power from my Tacoma, and that wasn't enough power to make the engine turn over!

Every time the woman cranked the engine, the dome light and dashboard lights would dim and fade.

I think this was partially because my truck had the original battery, but we gave up and the neigbor's friend ended up calling Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance.

Don't know if you read my intro in this thread, but I presently work as a barback (bartender's assistant) and errand runner at a bar/restaurant/music venue.
