So here's a general question - can you shift your mining rigs to mine lesser known coins once the coins you're currently mining become too complex? I know SHA-256 is exclusive to BTC, but are there others that could allow you to go from ETH to NEO for example (not those 2 specifically, but you get the gist - bigger coin to smaller coin).

Yes you can mine whatever you want. Some coins mine better with AMD, others with Nvidia, some dont matter. Its just a matter of setting up the miner programs you want.

I can take my AMD cards and mine ETH for 2 hours, close the miner and swap to XMR for 2 hours, close the XMR miner and swap to ETN, 2 hours later go back to ETH.

One of us doesn't understand the term "fork"

I think it refers to a branch off the blockchain of an existing coin.

Judging by your references to it, you think of it as a downturn in the price of a coin?

So once the difficulty for ETH makes it no longer valuable to mine, could/would you in theory switch to XMR at that point?

Yes. Out side of bitcoin any card can mine anything. You tell the card what to mine.

    Of course it is.
That's because having doubled on it, I pulled half out this morning and threw it into another coin

Sent you a PM. Mining sounds interesting!

I have a single card in my gaming PC, but I don't pay for electricity (or internet for that matter) at my apartment, so I don't mind leaving my gaming PC on 24/7 to make a few bucks.

I also have a desk job, and I am trying to figure out how to mine on Mac OS... It's not easily supported from what I've found.. Hmm.

Send him regards from someone with a Master's degree in CS for me too ;)

Economists don't know shit about crypto, that should be massively apparently to everyone by this point. According to them, bitcoin has 'died' about 300 times now...

In crypto, fork has one meaning, and it's the one described above- a blockchain branch. In case there was some economics term that I was unaware of, I checked that out too and didn't turn up anything.

Ok call it what you will. when the hell is the shit going to stop dropping and start going back up?.....Unless it goes below $62 I'm still ahead but not like I was (was pushing 9x/10x my investment...I'd like to hear your predictions not your (sarcastic I KNOW EVERYTHING) answers...I did see South Korea had a crackdown I would expect this to impact Litecoin specifically but could it affect other coins?
