I finally got around to putting in the new rear wiring harness on the truck today. Pretty easy really just a lot of up and down to pull the harness through. There where a few plugs extra that my truck isn’t set up for so I just taped them up (the ones in the cab for the trailer). There where two others right over the axle so I asked @thefatkid what should I do and followed his advice. I stole the boy’s car and picked up some dielectric grease, heat shrink and some tape. Wrapped the plugs up. Pretty sure they are sealed good. The passenger side running light (I think that’s what’s it’s called) and the passenger side license plate light still doesn’t work but all brake lights work now. I do still have that loose wire in the tail light hopefully once I get the new tail lights everything will work right.

Still not giving up on my tail lights I decided to keep googling. Looked up 2002 tacoma tail light wiring diagram and found this post on another thread from @Star-Lord . Thank you sir for the image. I was able to re-splice the hanging wire onto the wire where the end was suppose to go to. I used baking soda and lemon juice to clean out all the corrision from the plug. After I got everything cleaned out I sprayed it with electrical cleaner too. put everything back together. Everything works now. Both rear running lights and all three brake lights work. Mission accomplished.

My brake light came on assuming it was the front like it always is. I pulled the front wheels off and saw that the pads where pretty beefy. So I figure it's the rear that needs to be change since I haven't had them change in a long time. Figure I just tackle the job and pick up some cheap shoes for the truck.

Just finished my rear brakes. First time ever doing rear brakes. Really not that hard. It just take a lot of patient with the little pieces and springs.

I didn't have any bolts for the drum to pull it off so I used a mallet to loosen up the drum and wraped a ratchet strap around the drum to use as a handle. Pretty easy to wiggle and pull the drum off that way.

@PS78 remember my driver side wheel wobble. :anonymous:
Another thing I found while I was doing my rear brakes. I remember having a bolt broken off in the drum. I made sure the bolt was flush with the outer part of the drum but I never checked the inside of the drum. I found the broken bolt sticking out on the inside of the drum. Which gave my rear driver side a wobble. I ended up grinding it down to make it flush on the inside of the drum. It should stop wobbling now.

It's smooth on both ends. So I would have to weld something (like a nut) to screw it out or drill it out. The amount of work to get it out is more of a headache then just to grind it smooth. Plus with the fact that this whole rear end is getting replaced anyways. I don't want to work harder then I need to.

Out with the old and in with the used. So far the truck ran pretty well with the new throttle body. It responded better then before. Tranny shift was right on and no stall when I pushed it to fast and slow. All different speeds. Came to a stop and it idled nice. So far so good. I’ll give it a few more days. Hopefully my issue is fixed.

I ended up having to chop the sliders off to get ready for the cage and links.

Super late to the show, but I just wanted to chime in! Super impressed by your determination and persistence! Love the jump-right-in (pun intended), get your hands dirty, and learn as you go approach! Props!

Read through the last 85 pages over the last few days... read most of the updates, and some of the BS. Remember reading a some pages back (which was likely a couple of years ago), but thought I'd still post this up just in case the need over arose again. For ease of removing gaskets w/ out scratching:
