Where is this Lake Superior Basin? Looks like a fun trail.

Also, friendly annual reminder of our clubs Open House at the off road park in Gilbert, MN (Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area) the third weekend in May. Start planning for it now!

Great for newer wheelers. Stock-ish to mildly modified vehicles. Huge turnout with guided tours, free entry to the park, and free lunch. What could be better?

We generally start out of Nickerson, MN on the ORV trails...and sometimes "get lost"

Has anyone heard of a trail called b2b (border to border). From what i can tell it starts near duluth n ends near grand forks. Mainly forestry roads. But i can not f8nd any maps or route. Was planning a week offroading this summer. But if i can just go north instead of west it will be better.

Don't believe going to say this, I don't need the extra traffic on the trails I go on. But if you don't want to go West and prefer the North then Lake and Cook Counties will keep you busy for a lot more than a week. The National Forrest Service has not updated the maps in a decade and the roads change year to year. What might be on the maps is a single moose track now, and sometimes roads will show up that are not on any map. The new Superior National Forrest maps should be out this summer. GPS even with topo maps is lacking and not very accurate they get confused easily and often read navigating off road. Would help if Garmin finally put the vehicle GPS systems on GLONASS.

There is no cell phone reception in much of that area so if you get stuck or break down you can be in a real hurt. And S&R will charge up to $10K to come get you out. They use float planes to cover that area many that need evacuated are on Lakes. In the summer the bugs will eat you alive when the timing is wrong. Almost hit a cow moose that stepped out in front of me in the dark one evening.

I grouse hunt that area in the fall most traffic is logging trucks and ATV's. Cracks me up when someone says they only go on Forrest Service roads so nothing rough. I've turned around on many of them there because they can get so bad and rough. I am out to kill birds not get stuck or see what the truck can and can't do. I'm way past that stage of my life.

Was down this road one day when a Forrest Service truck came by and he said he was surprised to actually see anyone else, he said that was a first on this road.

While back on here there was a group that posted that went to Isabella in the winter. This is a 10 mile road that is on the map near there. And the sign is an understatement LOL.

The antenna to my truck is someplace a couple of miles down that road. And a lot of my paint. But there is also a shit load of grouse in one spot, with a few less than there used to be.

Plenty of places there to keep you busy exploring. Friend of mine that I hunt with lives in Silver Bay and he doesn't even know all the trails. Major roads, and there aren't many, yes. But there are so many others and spurs off from them it will keep you busy for a long time.

Sorry I can't answer your question. But come on dude, you can't tempt me with an "81 hilux on a 1st gen tacoma chassis" and not share it!

I need to update that! I was building a LT Tacoma chassis, for my 81 with a 1UZ, but have decided to keep it solid axle.

Well, there is that 4Wheel Parts up in Brooklyn Park.

There's Automotive Concepts in New Hope which would be more than happy install Skyjacker shocks and 50" light bars on your truck.

Then Iron Rock Offroad, which is a good shop, but only for Jeeps.

    Take your pick!! :(

Finally finished the final Moab video. This is mainly just Aaron and I taking our families to the Canyonlands.

    The driving starts at 2:10.

    https://youtu.be/y7nYIzFhKnU

The last stretch in the video is Potash Rd to Long Canyon Rd, which was a really cool drive.

Alders. Swamp Alders. Helps keep you between them knowing what happens if you go a couple inches to either side. That road is the Stony River Loop and is 10 miles long with a fair amount of traffic on it. A couple of side trails off from it though that seldom get used.

I really should get a Quad for some of the places I go. But get pissed when I see someone half my age and 300 pounds riding one with a gun across the handles "hunting". I'll stay with the truck to get me back in to places want to go for now.
