TRD Pro Grille for $140?

Wow. That "T" looks way off!

 

Posted a while back that I bought one from stainlesssteeljewelry on 12/9. Origin was China of course...expedited shipping... still hasn't arrived. Opened a case with e-bay yesterday and seller hasn't responded. Suspect a scam. Maybe it will show up. If not... is there a consolidated list of CONFIRMED Ebayers that appear to be trustworthy?

So how does this return process go? Are you guys being refunded and keeping them or sending them back and getting a refund? I filled out the eBay form. What steps do I take now?

 

Well guys this is my response from areyourshop guy. I had opened a case up about not receiving the 2 piece as well as not getting the letters. He is offering me $20 refund and says he will ship the TOYOTA Letters. I just feel like this is going to be a hassle... I just don't trust them to send me the letters. And from the looks of it even if I did get the letters it won't look good. People are saying the T and A are too thick? I was really hoping for the 2 piece so I don't have to worry about anything falling off. What should I do guys?? except his $20 refund and hope he sends me the letters? or try to talk him into giving me a full refund and look else where? I have a feeling these guys aren't going to want me to ship this thing back to them and in the end have to refund me anyways considering its not what was pictured when I purchased

 

The lettering is fine. The t and a are thicker because the base is molded to them unlike the other letters. Lots of people in this thread have posted pics of these one piece grilles and they are indistinguishable from the 2 piece. The problem is the base is colored with the letters, unlike the base on the other letters.

gotcha... but still should I take a chance and hope they send me the letters? I feel like once I except the $20 refund then its a waiting game for the letters and might never see them... then its just too late

Personally I would tell him to send me what I ordered or give me a refund. It's not your responsibility to pay to ship it back it he didn't send you what was listed. Stick to your guns, he will end up giving you a refund and then you can source a two piece if they still are available.

 

I'm surprised you didn't get them in the first place. I think you have 90 days to file a dispute through your CC...

 

Painted it flat black along with the grille. Wasn't entirely black for some reason. Half assed painted grille.

 

yeah I was surprised I did not receive the letters as well. But I saw that afew on here did not receive the letters either. I'm just going to tell them im not happy with the defects as well as not wanting to wait for the letters to arrive. I will try to get my refund and may even just purchase the real one idk. Tired of going through this haha. I can tell you one thing though! I am not taking a 3rd chance on another seller. Already got scammed by malaysia seller and now this. I will gladly take a refund and spend the extra money on something that is 100%

 

Any issues with the install or was it pretty straight forward? I am thinking I will use the same Ebay seller.

 

So people are getting sub $140 grilles and they are upset they are not up to standards? It seems some folks got a good deal and others didn't. I just don't see how it is a surprise it is not a top notch grille for the price. There is a risk when you deal in gray market, which is what these grille are. It's a crap shoot and you should know this before you go into it. The beginning of this thread that seemed to be the attitude, but that has changed to people being pissed the bargain didn't turn out as expected.

Live and learn I guess.

FWIW, I don't blame people for trying to save a few bucks, if I didn't already have an OEM grille I would be looking into it. But I would do so knowing it's a risk and I might lose out.

 

I am mostly upset that I did not receive my lettering... which should have been a no brainier to add them in the box. I was offered a $20 refund and they said they would send me the letters. But as I stated I would rather take a chance in getting full refund instead of waiting and hoping they shipped my TOYOTA Letters and then it be too late because by then the case would be closed and im out $120 bucks with a grille without letters haha

 

Understandable. This is part of the reason why I am probably going to sit tight on what I got. I'm ok with it as is and if I complain, it might get worse lol. You have been through worse, i'd tap out as well.

 

Totally agree with that and you are doing exactly what I would do, bail on the whole deal and get my refund.

I'm not sure if most people here complaining about having stick on letters know the OEM grille has stick on letters. The set up looks a little different but they are stick on letters. I know because I removed mine to plasti-dip them white and was concerned when I stuck them back on they would stay. it's been more then a year and they haven't moved.

 

I was one of the early buyers and I did get a great quality product. I knew that the $140 I spent was indeed a gamble. I was willing to take the risk. I would have never bought the oem grille for more than $200 anyway. Wasn't worth any more than that to me. Since I got a good one I am very pleased with it. Mine was the 2 piece. I think after a couple of weeks the quality suddenly went south and then there were several Chinese sellers in a price war. I was very lucky. If mine was junk I was prepared to get a refund thru ebay, paypal or my bank that issued the credit card. I would not have cried even if I had to eat the $140. I think once ching chang saw that cousin lu hu was pulling in all that money that he hooked up with wee dong and decided to suck out a bunch of American bux. Then the Malaysia mafia jumped in. The bottom line is that there are 139 pages of people that think the oem is such a ripoff that they are willing to take a risk to get a copy selling for what the oem is actually worth. Truthfully we have nothing to complain about. Ebay seems to be taking care of the victims and there are quite a few of us that, receiving a great grille, can smile every time we see a $350-$400 Pro grille that looks no different than our $140 grille. I took the savings and bought real Pro tail lights for $270. But I am sure some would say they are not as good as the real Pro tail lights that some paid $370 to get.
