Has anyone noticed the new tacoma SPC UCA's?

    http://www.spcalignment.com/component/spc/?task=part_description&pid=25470

Gone are the specride bushings in favor for their new xAxis joints (essentially a sealed heim joint) as well as gone is the tublar front part of the UCA in favor for a full cast piece and you reuse the OEM Dished washers.

    Same part number.

Also any one know what the difference is between the 4 runner / FJ uca (part 25480) vs the 2nd/3rd gen tacoma ( 25470)?

I believe the difference is the diameter of the threaded portion of the ball joint. The FJ/T4R ones are a tad bigger in diameter compared to the Tacoma. I learned that the hard way.

I have these sitting in my garage. I'm hoping to get them put in within a few weeks.

SPC specficially told me to not lube these. None.

Stumbled on another thread about them

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/spc-warranty-and-new-uca-design.515809/

On a side note I received a pair of their upgraded ball joints with zerks (25001) as a warranty replacement and to my surprise they are not coated in the yellow zinc like the previous ones. These new ones have what looks like a typical grey zinc coating. Hopefully they protect just as well as the old finish did.

Edit: Confirmation from an SPC rep says that it's a new Geomet 720 finish that will be on other products as well.

Wonder what the weight difference is... I can see the advantage of having a 1 piece design, no point of failure on the arm anymore. I still have a brand new set sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. TBH I don’t think the x joint is really a huge huge improvement over just a simple bushing.

I hope they are not any better, just made mine installed 1 month ago. Just like with anything, the longer you wait, the more you want the new one.

I'll just be happy if they squeak less. I was having constant issues with the SpecRide bushing on my drivers side - which is why SPC sent me these new ones.

I feel like I've been having issues with these UCA's since I put them in, but I will say, they've given me perfect alignment and their customer service is pretty great.

Is this the new arm and bushings? I tried getting my wife to send me pictures of everything but it’s hard to tell when I’m not there and she doesn’t send me everything :annoyed:

No, those aren't it. I put them on yesterday. Sorry, forgot to get pictures. But I believe they're up on the SPC website now.

So far so good though. They're already quieter than my SpecRide bushings.

    edit: Yeah, here they are:
    http://www.spcalignment.com/component/spc/?task=part_description&pid=25470

    They have the forged arms.
