I guess the skid plate fairy gave me beefier skid plate bolts cause she knew I wheel hardcore.

No one is bitching... I'm not anyway. I just have a sarcastic flavor that can be an aquired taste

 

On my truck... maybe three and a half. The rest is just zip tied.

3 across the very front of the front skid
2 middle way back of front skid (they are sunk in about 1.5 inch)
2 in the middle of back skid
the back skid also hooks the the back of the front skid with a hook doohicky thingy

 

If you will check the threads are probably the same on the 12 and 13mm bolts
I wheel pretty rough too

 

Not bitching just don't want the wrong info going to people that don't know any better, people look on here for advice and it needs to be correct.

 

Lmao. Gonna be like that real soon if I can't figure out where these damn bolts go to what.

 

About 95% of the nuts and bolts on my truck have either been 10mm, 12mm or 14mm. The rest are either 17mm or 19mm.

Since I've added a lot of aftermarket items over the years, I have had to use the 13mm sockets and wrenches on it more and more. But that's because they work perfectly on 1/2" nuts and bolts.

 

You said your friend took them off and you have nuts and washers?
You may want to look at the back skid, where the bolts go on them is very thin and get stripped out alot. Sometimes people put a bolt through them and a nut on the top after they strip them out.

 

You do realize my "I wheel hardcore" was totally sarcasm.

I have never wheeled my Prerunner beyond a moderately scetchy fireroad... That will be changing in the near future, but the last time I did anything gnarly was over 15 years ago in my ZJ.

 

You shouldn't put info on here that will mislead people, that's all i care about.
If you want to BS I'm all in but when giving info it should be correct so future searchers don't get bad info.

Look big guy... I think I was pretty clear from the start that I'm saying what is on MY TRUCK. And I also think I've been pretty clear that as far as I know... for the last 15 years I have owned the 15 year old truck that the front bolts have always been the ones I just pulled out of the truck and looked at.

I'm not trying to give anyone false info or bad info... I think if you'll actually look, I'm trying to do my damn best to give good info... see what I've been telling tymeson about his bushings.

Like I said before... there's no reason to get worked up. You've owned 6, 7, 10, 20 1st gen and all the skid plate bolts were 12mm... cool, great, are we really going to continue on about skid plate bolts?

 

There are almost no 13mm bolts anywhere on these trucks. I've taken damn near every bolt out on these trucks and I'm struggling to think of any..

 

Whining noise when you turn the wheels is the first sign. If it's bad it can leak.
