Good morning. Zero here which is normal, another inch of snow today. Getting real tired of an inch of snow at a time. Takes a lot longer to shovel that crap than it does to blow it.

In North Carolina when I lived on the coast I had a shallow well pump house. Full of black widow spiders when you lifted it in the summer LOL. Had a 100 watt light bulb in it but back then didn't even have a thermostat. Screwed the light bulb in come fall and loosened it in the Spring.

Frost level here is anywhere from 5-6 feet deep. Couple of years ago didn't get above zero much for 2 months straight and frost line went to 8-10 feet or more which is where the pipes are buried. Everyone kept their faucets dripping a little water all the time to keep the water from freezing.

Remember Rocky and Bullwinkle and Frost Bite Falls? Didn't realize that it is an actual place until I moved to Mn. it is the nickname for International Falls, Mn. "The Falls" is on Rainy River. -37 there but Cotton and Embarrass where I often hunt grouse were down to -41. Those are not records just damn cold mornings. Down here it will often get into the twenties below zero and once in awhile thirties below but those are getting into the record cold levels. Personally I like to see record highs in the winter.

@Tacoma Mike the Duluth harbor with the heat rising from the Lake behind it. Takes a long time for the worlds largest freshwater Lake to cool off even with these temperatures. Twenties below zero there the Lake helps keep Duluth "warm"

My face hurt being outside for like 10 min.

Yea I’ll be getting heaters, heat tapes, and tarps. Going to build a tent with tarp over potted trees with heater and allow room for outside dogs and cats . Built a portable dog condo also. Outside dogs are Shetland sheepdogs and a mutt rescue that all have under coats but it’s still going to get cold. The colder it is the more they lay right out in the open
Got a pig warmer out now that all the cats lay on. Lots of stuff to do on 2 properties before Sunday evening.

I own a couple of those heavy duty blue extension cords that are supposed to be cold weather rated and easier to work with when it is cold. They don't play well in these temps either.

Brine tank = salt water. Sea water freezes at 28.4F brine tank has a lot more salt than sea water. I don’t think you’re going to get cold enough to freeze that solid. Even then it’s made of plastic. You’ll be alright.

Yes thanks. But it’s a single unit with resin tank in brine tank and I’ve seen them split, only I got paid to replace it. This time I pay to replace if it happens, not worth the risk. Forecast is low 20s overnight all week.
    Oh joy

[IMG]Pack some insulation in the open soffit, stretch out a cord, and place a milk house heater in the mech room. You will be fine.
