I need to heat my first floor (house built on a slab so first floor gets very cold). This is where I keep the dogs when I'm out of the house. Is there a type of space heater that I can add that would be safe left unattended? Someone recommended an Amish heater, I'm not familiar with them

Amish heater, I assume the ones that are basically a light bulb in a box with a fan? I don't really love the idea of them but I've also never owned one.

 

How much sq ft are we talking? A space heater even the amish ones are inefficient and cost a shit ton if you run it every day

 

I think it's 350 sqft. All the goes up the stairway.

You’re best bet long term cost wise of this is a permanent goal isto install a baseboard down there

 

If I do something more permanent I think I'll pull the flooring up and insulate. But I don't know how long I'm staying in this house

No, you can get these that are portable and simply plug into a standard 110v outlet. I heated an 800sq ft basement with 2 of these for years, it's pretty efficient because the oil in the heater holds heat even when the element isn't heating. I bought my portable ones at Home Depot. They weren't horrible expensive to run but any electric heat isn't exactly cheap.

 

It is but the boyfriend and I have been talking about cohabitation in the next year or so
