I drove an '82 white longbed Hilux 4x4 for a few yrs in high school and after (thanks to my dad for basically giving it to me for free). Then I got the idea to buy a newer Tacoma (this was back in 2005-2006), so we sold the '82 and my dad let me use all the $$ he got from it to put towards the '99 white Tacoma that I still have to this day. Once I got the idea to buy a brand new one, I knew there was no way I wanted a 3rd white Toyota truck in a row. As soon as I saw an Inferno on the road last year, I knew that would be the color I was gonna buy. Whenever I look at it, I'm never disappointed in the color

When you put your light bracket on, did you put the bar at its farthest out holes of the holes/slot? making the bad stick out past the bumper, or did you put the bar in one hole closer? making the bar closer to the grill?

It only had one set of holes, but they were slotted. I had to slide it out as far as it would go so there would be room between the lights and the grill. I ordered a TRD Pro grille, I'll probably have to adjust it when I put that on.

Thank you, I’m sure you probably figured it out like I did that the bottom grill that the bracket goes through “doesn’t need to come off at all”. I used a hacksaw blade and cut out just enough of the bottom gtill to let the light bar pass through to the inside brackets. I’m actually going to start a thread informing people that it is unnecessary to take that bottom grill and it’s 23 buttons and light bezel off! I had questions this from the getgo! The only reason they have you take all that off on the bottom is just to cut the two parts of the grill out, how stupid of them

Yeah I didn't take any of the bottom off. I also didn't cut as much off the side shrouds as they instructed. I cut at an angle so I could use the lower attachment point. Don't know why they didn't do it that way, looked logical to me.

To everyone who has put either the vinyl inserts in the tailgate letters, OR the black vinyl around the letters on the bottom of the tailgate (leaving the letters orange), how well does that vinyl hold up to weather? Particularly extreme heat for about 6 months out of the year? I have not decided which of these options I want to do yet, but I was wondering if it would be better to use some type of paint or plastidip rather than vinyl?

There are also poly letter inserts, like I used. They are raised and adhesive backed. After washing the tailgate I used alcohol to remove any contaminates. Had it parked in full summer sun plenty of times with temps near 100. No issues. It's been below 20 most days this past week and still no issues. My guess is, in either case, with either type, if you put em' on right, they're there for life.

Yeah, the poly ones are the better choice most likely. There's a cheaper version like i got, and a beveled edge version that runs a little more that is higher quality. The adhesive backing acts just like the badges on the side of your truck. Quality stuff.

Vinyl typically lasts 6-10 years from what I've read.
