Just wondering what everyone's feelings are on having Firestone do the alignment on the Tacoma.

On 1/1/18 they are offering their lifetime alignment deal for only $120.

I purchased the Lifetime alignment on a car before from them, but that was when I knew a guy working there that knew his stuff about Alignment's. Now that he's not there, thinking I don't have enough trust to let them do the alignment. Am I over thinking it?

    well that depends.

if you have no suspension mods, keep a stock alignment, and don't know or follow their techs there then I'd say that's a deal.

if you have any custom alignment specs to meet, mods to accommodate, or any special needs ever of any kind, I'd say no way.

speaking for myself it's a life prime directive to always have an independent tech who follows my truck, suspension/alignment, from day one until it's gone. i take it to him for alignment checks every 6 months or so and if it's still correct there's no charge. had the truck 13 months, aligned twice and checked twice all for 198$ so far... and I'm happy because my specs are custom and i have UCA's etc.

Chances are that Firestone shop has the latest and greatest fairly dummy proof gazillion dollar laser alignment table....

    Do it

it's not the info the rack provides, it's what you do with it. the tech is where the magic does or totally doesn't happen.

I'm sticking to what i said. just my. 0.02

I think I paid ~$160 last spring for Firestone's lifetime alignment. They are ok for tire mounting, bal. and alignments. No issues from my experience.

I used Firestone for years for basic stuff like alignments, tires and oil changes. That is until the tried to screw me on a safety inspection by telling me I needed to replace my exhaust system due to a hole in the exhaust. They tried to get greedy about it by saying it would be $800 to fix it.

I went to go get a second opinion and found out it had no holes and no leaks anywhere. Also the only person that stays at this job for any length of time at my location was the front desk guy. My location has become the Jiffy Lube of the auto care biz.

OP - after saying all of this I don't think it would hurt to have them do it. Just get a second opinion if they try to upsell you on other repairs.

I have the lifetime alignment deal at Firestone and after three alignments, so far so good. I paid somewhere near $170. It's nice to be able to get an alignment after making even the smallest tweaks to the suspension setup. Do it!

Thats what I paid for it about a year or so ago. I have taken my truck in a couple of times...they're easy to deal with and do good work.
