i wouldnt see why not. Most are 12v constant, just harder to find 12v accessory.

Thanks! I'll use dome light for constant 12v, and igc2 for on. I have to check but I think I can use the bolt that holds the fuse panel in place as my ground.

If you have a multimeter, it would also be good to verify before connecting anything. I ALWAYS check with a meter to avoid frying the electrical system.

Really good tutorial, I've been looking for one like this! Does it matter in which sequence (port) you install the fuses on the add-a-fuse?

It's easier to do all your wiring and install the fuses into the add-a-fuse before plugging it into the fuse panel, if that's what you mean.

You can do in any order, but if you plug into fuse panel first, disconnect battery terminals for safety. You don't need to unplug terminals if you do all the wiring separate from fuse panel.

    Hope that makes sense.

I can make mine "always on" depending on what fuse i jump off of. I'm considering doing that. Going to play with it more after this road trip.

Yes, that helps, thanks a bunch. Does the "accessory" fuse you install on the add-a-fuse have to match the other (original) fuse? i.e. can I place a 15A fuse along the 30A wiper fuse?

Yeah. You're just stealing the 12v. Using one add-a-fuse won't hurt the wire from the battery to the fuse box. So using a 15 on a 30 or a 30 on a 15 is fine. They'll be two separate circuits as far as the fuses ate concerned.

Sorry to resurrect my own thread from awhile ago.

My 12V->5V converter seems to have broken about a month ago. I just got around to installing a new one. I figured it was just a faulty converter, but now the new one has failed about2 days or so after reinstall.

Any help in troubleshooting is appreciated.

So I just put a multi-meter on the first one that I assumed was broken.

On a 9V battery, the original one does read 5V at the USB end. So it is working as intended. However, neither my phone, nor the hardwired USB cam were getting power from it when it was in the truck.

Both the phone and the dash cam were powered when I replaced the converter to the newer one I just purchased...but now they don't work. I;m getting ~14V from my truck to just before the converter, but nothing after the converter.

    This is odd.

Faulty ground wire. Replaced and fixed.

Also moved to an always on fuse.

Nice post! Someone gave me the same dash cam for Christmas so I will be doing a similar hardwire install.
    Appreciate you sharing the information.

Which fuse did you use for always on?
