Anyone know anything about exploring up in masten PA, the old lumber mill town, and the surrounding area like Mcintyre wildlife area? anyone know of any dirt trails to head down in that area?
We're staying in World's end state park in early April and the area looks interesting to explore. I know west of that area well into elk country, but the only thing I've done around that area is hike Rickett's glen and camp at world's end. I'm going to have some guys from the city, so a gravel trail with trees is enough outdoors for these boys and should be more than interesting. The map looks promising and might just be good to explore. but any tips would be well appreciated. I don't need anything crazy to keep these guys entertained. a dirt road, trees, and maybe a creek that runs by the road is going to be more than enough.

    Thanks in advance.

It’s not off roadhin but you’re gonna be real close to Eagles Mere, if yah like old airplanes and cars there’s a museum at the airport. They have car shows on the weekends through out the year as well.

There is hundreds of miles of gravel/dirt roads in this area. I am blessed to live here. There was a historic flood 14 months ago along the Loyalsock and Lycoming creek watersheds. Many of the roads are still shut down. Be sure to check out Loyalsock canyon vista, High knob overlook, Rock Run, Pleasant Stream, Sharptop vista, Dry run, Angel Falls, Hunters Lake and the Haystacks. The Loyalsock Trail is 58 miles of awesomeness as is the Old Loggers Path. Awesome fishing in Lycoming and Loyalsock. Plenty of watering holes as well.

Yea but will you get in trouble from the law or a game warden for trespassing ? I’m just curious , I’d love to find some cool trails to ride on

thanks. pleasant stream and dry run looked promising when you look at it topographically on google map. Watering holes work well. This fall, we camped out in waterville, and there were only two bars we could find in the area.

I like heading up there and stocking up on my Straub beer. I'm not sure why I like it, but I do. It's like rolling rock, just better.

Can’t get busted for trespassing when you’re allowed on the roads. Mostly State Forest with some State Gamelands. During hunting season, the game commission opens gates that are usually off limits the rest of the year.

I lived just outside Waterville for a few years. Still have a camp there. My nephew lives in St. Mary’s where Straub brewery is located. Hell yeah, beer in all it’s glory.

gamelands are alot different in central pa , eastern part alot of gamelands have areas were hunting clubs own the property. and are the property owners of the logging road not the state , but what some clubs like mine would do is allow public hunting in areas so gamecommision would patrol property ..

Girlfriends father has one on the Delaware river outside of Honesdale I think. The river is like a 3 minute walk from the cabin and they have tons of hunting land with it. I don't have an answer as to why though.

I live less than 5 miles from ANF. Would be happy to provide any info if anyone is looking.

Also, proposed to my now wife at Benezette. Awesome people that work there at the Visitors Center, but you’re right. We always saw more elk just driving around back roads.
