Sooo was just looking at the 13" MBP and found out I can upgrade to 16gb of ram. It's still only a dual core processor though. BUT it's about $300 cheaper. Gotta decide if the quad core i7 is worth the extra coin

Not sure what the requirements of Final Cut Pro are as that is way beyond my editing skill level...but will FCP use all that dual core processing power? You'll be doing 4K I assume?

I plan to keep everything external anyways besides FCP and the current project I'm working on.
    The main differences are the
-processor dual core vs quad core
-graphics card: intel iris plus graphics 650 vs Radeon pro 560

I can't make the decision if it's worth the extra money or not... the 13" has 512gb SSD vs the 256gb SSD in the 15" too.

My editing skills are worse than amateur but I had some crap clips from testing out the new drone that I had to do something with them...

What'd you use to edit? I watched a tutorial on Final Cut Pro a bit ago. I can't wait to pick my mbp up tomorrow and play around with it on old footage!

It'll probably be total garbage still. But I'll be playing around with the color correction stuff and transitions and other nifty features. I only watched a brief tutorial on basic functions before I had to leave. But I'll be watching lots of videos tomorrow instead of working

Lol. Just realized I cant mess with any of my videos right now because my current external drive is uxb 3.0 and the new MBP only has USB-C ports. Definitely don't have the patience to sit and upload video to dropbox and then download again

@RearViewMirror is getting an SSD for an external drive worth the extra cost? A 500gb ssd external is like 140 where a 140 hdd external gets you like 2 TB

If you want speed performance from the external drive, its worth it. If you are going to use it as a archive device, then the hybrid drives are better bang for buck. Basically, if you want to treat it as as extension of your internal drive then get SSD. Storing long raw vids for storage, get hybrid
