Thanks for making these modifications easily available for us!

I'm only interested in the motion/nav function and the rear camera anytime.

I'm concerned about the Nav system not functioning as well as the stock setup. Can some of you guys explain again how things have changed once you install this harness? I would leave it switched on at all times. I'm concerned about the GPS updating.

    Thanks everyone!! -Kirk Out

For me, the GPS doesn't update at all when the toggle switch is on. I never use the nav function so it doesn't matter to me. But if u need to input an address you could flip the toggle enter the address and reflip the toggle again. Once it's off it'll update again.

If you leave it on, it will start to update after about 15min. After that, it will work right away until you flip the switch off, even for multiple drives.

Just leave it on and forget about it.

The cable functions just like unmodded.

I am sorry to hear that. I've done it three times. The one time on the highway took the longest. Maybe because I was driving straight? The two other times on my curvy commute route, I started updating sooner.

I can try to post a video if you'd like?

Naw it's okay. I've left mine off over multiple starts and stops and it just doesn't like to refresh. Like I said I never use that garbage navigation so it's not a big deal. Thank you for the offer tho.

I just put mine in a week ago and the GPS/nav seems to work just fine regardless of switch on/off.

My next concern is how I'm gonna get the front camera cable into the cab. Is everyone going in on the passenger side? Anyone doing anything different?

Remember on my 09 I ran wires down the drivers side floorboard where the door dolls popped off and there were a couple gromets that went to the under side of the truck not sure if the 3rd gen is the same

I ordered up the camera from this post:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-smartphone-mirr.501617/page-10#post-16496915

It is arriving on Friday. I hope to get it mounted and tested this weekend.

The passenger side seems to be the best since the HAI cable is routed there and there is a large passthrough.

I went drivers side. Right next to the hood latch cable.

    Hey, Folks.

Electronical genius here. Can someone please point me toward a good source of key on / acc power? The camera I got had a yellow RCA female and a 12v red / black power lead.

I was probing around in the passenger side kick panel and could not get a hit. I found a constant power lead that wasn't pinned to anything, but I didn't want to risk battery drain. There is a good ground point back there also. Just need a good positive juice location.

    Thanks!

I used an add-a-fuse to one of the p-outlet locations with a me-so customs extended fuse box lid.

Uhh, thanks? So, the English version of that might be that you wired it under the hood? Not in the cab?

I got mine working temporarily using a spare 12v output pigtail to the power port.

If I can find out how to pop the power port out (unlikely?), I would just scab it on to that. I do have an MCTuning dual USB outlet on the shelf to go into the blank location on that lower panel. I'm hoping to go the shortcut route, not pulling the whole dash apart.

I don't intend to scab that to the power port, esp as I do want that to work with the key off.

BTW, I was able to route the camera harness through one of the two spare grommets / udders (hahaha!) in the big harnesses pass through. Gawd, it was a beyotch enlarging the opening and getting the connector through on the cab side.

No, at the fuse panel in the cab with an add-a-fuse, like this...
    nEk07Eml.jpg

Then, since your fuse panel cover won't fit anymore with the add-a-fuse, use this cover...

Oh! That's neato. That might be a good route for the USB outlets.

    Thanks!

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. It did some searching and came up with posts that just said to connect to power as if it was obvious. Although, I was a bit nervy even probing wires given all the airbags.

    I appreciate the help!

Okay, that vid was easier than the post I read. They made it seem as if the lower panel was fragile.

    Thanks again!
