I'm relieved that it was finally diagnosed. Unfortunately this clinic is the best one in my area. Thankfully the veteranarians there have different areas of expertise. The vet that diagnosed her has seen this condition before. It occurs in greyhounds and poodles most frequently than other breeds. The best way to treat this apparently is with surgery.

She's an older dog so her kidneys and liver are showing signs of age, but I've been closely monitoring that situation. One thing I've been doing is increasing her carbohydrates and fats and decreasing her protein. It's better for her system, easier on the liver and kidneys.

I have to say the idea of a second opinion prompted me to make the appointment with a different vet that I didn't know in the same clinic.

Thanks man! Yes. The two on either side are brothers, 9mos apart. They're a mix of Boston Terrier and Shar Pei. They've become a bit more common recently and the breed is called a Shar-Bo.

Thank you, Sir! These 3 couldn't be any better with my son. They're really great with kids. So thankful for that.

Rescue/vet paperwork said purebred aussie but we're not convinced. We're pretty sure he has border collie (and.. deer? something else?) in him especially since he's so tall. We go with red bicolor aussie/border collie mix (maybe tricolor? maybe purebred of one or the other?).

    Oh wow! Beautiful dog!

Yeah, our Wiley boy looks just like yours! I think he's a bicolor, not tricolor, but he really does look more border collie than Aussie the more pictures we see.

I would have to agree, the longer snout and the extra shoulder bone is really the only difference. Great dogs though!

    This is it, I promise!

Does anybody has recommendations for gundog trainers in Silicon Valley? She is in obedience school but I'd really like to put her to work at some point.

From retrieving ducks a week ago in near freezing water with air temps in the teens to chillin' on the bed. :D

At 65 lbs, he curls up quite compactly.

Those collars are awesome. Personalized so there's no tags making noises in the night, and waterproof so they don't stink even if your dog lives in the water during the summer.

Cool dog too. We've got a group of dogs that we let run together every morning near my house, there's an all Brown GSP who runs like no dog I've ever seen. Great dog.

Thanks Rob - he'll be 8 in January and still runs like the wind.

Here's where I get my collars. I've used others, but these last/hold up the best. I pay a little extra for the machine stamped rivets.
