No issues with mine, but still plan to upgrade firmware. Yep, so glad to get rid of that stock piece of crap. Sound is so much better and way louder. I think in the spring I am going to take a good look at getting the OEM-Audio+ speaker set-up.

It looks like you actually painted your grill as apposed to Plastidip? It looks like you did a great job, it looks smooth and even.

Wow! That looks much more satin than the Plastidip job I did. I really took my time between coats, applied 12-14 coats. My grill looks good but I dont like the texture as much as I thought I would. Yours looks like a real satin finish...

Please post some pics of the new setup when done. I really want these wheels but was told the stock tires stretch out and look awkward with them. I would really like to see how your setup turns out...

Thanks. My first time too.

My first couple of coats were kinda speckled. It was not going as planned at first. I think the hairdryer helped. I was also keeping the can in hot tap water in the house in between coats. On the 5th and 6th coats I moved farther away while spraying than I had been. Here's a close up on that 6th coat:

    20171229_152217.jpg

    Here's the bezel:

    20171229_152209.jpg

I was really happy with the satin look being so smooth and almost didn't put the clear on. The clear is supposed to help with fading and I figured it would add some durability. I lost some of the smoothness but it made it appear a darker black which was, for my taste, a better trade off. Without the clear I think the black looks more charcoal colored, not black. Now it matches the lower grill better.

For the 24 bucks (with tax) and the leftover paint I'm very happy with the outcome.

I'm either doing the door badges next or removing them. I like both options.

I kept my can in warm water as well. Now you have me thinking about taking the whole thing apart to apply clear. I had no idea that the clear would make the plasti look darker... Thanks for the close up views. IMHO I dipped my badges and they look sick. Also I removed the Sport sticker off the rear of the bed and I like the clean look of it now.After.jpg.jpg

Nice. My wife was worried that I was going to screw up the plastidip project on my grill and figured we would be buying a new one. She would have felt much better if we had a free grill to do it on... you should have seen the look on her face when I was plastidipping the badges. She freeaked when she saw me spraying the side of the truck with minimal masking. She helped me peel the plasti off the badges and was AMAZED at the outcome.

Well, I can tell you this, I bought one can at Lowe's and the other at HD. I used the HD can first. That one had the speckled effect. I'm only pointing out that there are no two cans alike. I didn't think to check for any dates on the cans. Not sure they exist or if that matters. I honestly think the hairdryer was key. Then staying farther away doing a much finer mist on those final coats filled in the orange peel better too.

In your pic I think your grill looks great. Maybe the white makes it look more black. Either way I've always been a fan of the storm trooper look.

If I have to redo mine it will be to switch it out for powdercoated mesh.

Yea, the weather here is not getting any better anytime soon so my door badges will have to wait.

I do like these trucks stripped of all the decals, and badges, about as much as I like them with modded versions of each. I'm going to remove the A pillar vinyl and my silver pinstripes. There's a MD state outline & flag motif I'm fond of for the bed too. I'm going to have that custom made. I have a lot of ideas LOL. Just not a lot of time.

    Welcome to the forum! :hattip:

We have an Inferno thread over here:

How'd you light up the interior of your grill? I want to do this.

    Thanks.

I used an led fog light and ran a switch to the interior. The grill I got off eBay and the orange plexiglass I got square and used a dremel to cut the shape
