MPG

Not bad for almost 250 miles into my first tank on my 6 day old Tacoma. I'll take 22.0 mpg! Granted, the truck is 100% stock right now and about 200 of those miles were highway, but still...

 

Don't get the transmission tsb if you like your mpg. I was averaging 22 every day sometimes 24, got this tsb done and it drives a lot better, but I can only get 19-20 no matter how hard i try, I don't really care but it is interesting.

 

I have been getting 19-20 but it is cold out there this time of the year

 

I do mixed city/hwy about 65 miles a day traveling to and from work. I usually avg about the same as u. Although i have been using the ECT power button in city traffic lately and have seen my mpg drop down to 20.4 at some points.

Wow.. uh my average is 15.9 in my 18 trd or 4x4 mt. Dealership is looking into why I'm getting crap mileage, 2 weeks old 1800 miles, 15.9mpg 1300 miles was all highway one trip

 

I wouldn't be worried until after 5000 miles. Mine broke in pretty well and got much better mileage

 

Christmas day I drove up to my daughters, the wind was bad and when I got home I saw only 18.6 mpg for the 80 mile trip I usually get 23 @ 65--72 mph in the summer and at 50 mph, I get 26 mpg. This winter gas sucks and I've never had a vehicle so effected by wind and road pitch.

 

I know this sounds weird, but i always get gas at the same Circle K each week. One time i was in a hurry and stopped to fill up at the Shell station just down the rd from my house. That whole week i never got over 18 mpg and my daily driving was always the same routine.....coincidence? I never stopped there again. My mpg went back up after i started using my Circle K again...

 

I wasn't to happy with 18 mpg until I remembered that I live in the mountains.

 

I don’t understand how y’all are getting this type of gas MPG. I average about 9-9.5 city and 11 highway

 

I stopped worrying about mileage a long time ago, but before lift and tires I was getting 18 city and 21-22 highway with 265s. I’m Down to 13-14 city and 17 highway, I’m still happy with the power but mpg wise they really get bogged down with 285s.

 

I am glad you mentioned this....I just took delivery of a 2018 TRD sport, access cab, MT, and am only getting 16-18mpg per tank. only 2 tanks into this truck, and the sticker says i should get 21mpg average. I am NOT lugging or racing the engine, as i only have 600 miles on the truck, but WTH??

 

Same here. I was getting mid 18s before. After 10k service, I'm getting upper 16s to mid 17s. As far as I know all they did was change oil & filter and rotate tires.

 

I’m between 11 and 12.5 mpg. Not sure why people purchase our trucks and then worry about gas mileage. But to each his own!

 

the estimated mpg shouldn't lie... (ask volkswagen) lol... my 2018 sticker says 21 mpg average. i am getting 18. 7% difference over 40,000 miles/year adds up. now, i didn't get the tacoma to worry to much about mpg, but i thought i would at least get what the sticker says, because i drive like a little old man...lol

 

Mine has averaged about 20mpgs since the day I drove off the dealership lot, it has dropped a little recently due to winter fuel.

 

So you believe that 22mpg? I see you have 245 miles on that tank. There is always a huge discrepancy when I divide how much gas I put in a tank and divide by the miles driven, vs that scale.

Try this, fill up your tank completely and reset your trip meter. Run that tank as low as you dare, fill up again and make sure you note EXACTLY how much gas you put in your tank. Divide the total miles driven (on this one tank, by the trip meter) by how much fuel you added at the pump.

You will see a significantly lower number if you actually do the math. Thats your actual average mpg per tank. Miles driven divided by the volume of fuel added. Try it.
