Hell, last month one of the kids pulled a 25+lb salmon from "hot springs" 2 blks from the house. Yesterday day I watched a guy fight a halibut for 10 mins just to lose it at the rocks in Berkeley.

I may have tweaked a few things...
I’m not really into fishing, tried it a few times as a kid. But I recently acquired a kayak and i’ve been wanting to get out early and see how nice it is. Maybe when it’s just a little warmer, as much as I prefer the cold this could be a bit much.

What part of the Midwest? Born and raised in Iowa myself. I didn’t even know what trout and salmon were until like 5 years ago. I was catching flathead and panfish until moving out here to CA... now it’s a mix of all kinds of fish in my basket. Kind of cool.

Illinois, Chicago. Spent most summers in Lodi Wisconsin. Muskie and walleye . And panfish. Last month we got into a school of bluegill at Brannon island. Great time

Never chased after pike and Muskie, but my god it’s on my bucket list. I took my dad up to North Dakota in September on the Red River... caught a couple 18+ lb channels. The normal size up there is 10-15lb. Pretty crazy.

Definitely a boat. We have two so I take advantage. Although I do enjoy shore fishing at some spots.

Also agree with what you said. I use mostly older stuff I was given from my grandpa mixed with a little new stuff. Still catches them just fine.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
The island on concrete thing is a lot better than it used to be. Now days the plastic (aquapex) water lines should be run through an ABS sleeve. Normally, now, the only supply lines, in a new house, running in the slab are the island supply lines... normally sleeved straight across from the fridge area. If a problem comes up with one of the pipes running to the island you just slide it out and run a new one through the sleeve.

They used to run copper supply lines in the slab. I never thought that was a good idea... and have had to jack hammer more than one slab to find a leak.

Yeah it’s easy to get crazy and start buying the newest and greatest. I started out with my dads older stuff, but gradually moved into the newer aged shit just because I plan on keeping it forever. Might as well have some nice shit. Although most of the fishing gear is made by the same conpanies now, I’m a big Abu Garcia & Pflueger guy. Have a mix of spinning and casting rods/reels of both brands.

I hate fish! Love to catch them though. Love chasing Bass. Like those little ponds nobody ever fishes. That's my thing. And then throw them back:)

Hate fish unless it’s raw and expensive.

Don't even like that kind. My wife loves it. And yes those who like raw expensive fish are total freaks.
