They could be cut and built using any metal tools he normally uses. He would just use the template to copy rather than design his own

    Edit... again what he said,/\
Actually, I can do the cutting on the _/ shapes and hole drilling.
I just need the flat plates and bends on them.

Considering just buying the steel ones now and reinforcing them be for installing, aluminium would be a waist of time to do that.

    Nice!
I gotta get back into climbing shape.

I’m going to try to do the Thunderbolt to Sill traverse in August.

Careful of that striping on the driveline.

I twisted one right at a scrape just like that.

My new one has super thick tubing.

Might want to crawl under there with some sand paper and polish it down. I’ve heard that might help.

No burrs on it. First cut was the back corner, was hitting on the yokes bolts. Then setup for LT, and now the flex pushes the drive line against the plate. 1st cut on it was hitting the weight balance, this cut is what else you see, rubbing on the side, hence why I cut it out and back some. Now we see if it was enough and not to push my gusset in the tank. Cut back pretty far this time.

Thanks for the heads up Nick.

    Ok cool.

My stripping was from sitting on a rock with a tire in the air, also put a big dent in my gas tank at the same time :anonymous:

    (This was my ‘85 pickup)

I ended up wheeling that driveline for a couple of years after polishing it but my last rubicon trip did it in. That was an interesting drive home. So I carry a spare now, stock driveline plus spacer.

A jig is a bit more for making sure cut pieces are assembled correctly. A template could be used to to feed coordinates to a machine to cut or you could use it to cut your own parts.

Looks worse than mine did. After my last cut-up on the gas skid, no more rubbing this past weekend. There are a few picks in my build thread, but no measurements. It was nice not toe hear the rubbing every time I stuffed the drivers side rear tire.
