Sometimes oil can be messy. My girl drives a Toyota Yaris AKA "The Spud" & whoever designed it didn't think bout the DIYer! When you pull the drain plug the pass front wheel is in the way of where you'd put drain pan... Wtf! GM is still the easiest in my opinion! Lol

You might have a cap covering the drain tube under the oil filter. Most people use a plastic soda bottle to catch what oil drains out of the filter.
Changing oil once a year? Hmm, I would at least change the filter every 6 months and add a little oil to top it off.

I’ll look for a cap. Not sure where I would position a soda bottle, there isn’t a ton of room in there.

Yeah, the M1 extended performance filter is said to also be good for the same interval. It goes against my training but I’m not towing any longer, and I’ll still check for consumption.

Another option is to buy some clear plastic tubing, attach it and run it down into a container. I don't know the diameter. Seems to be around 1/2" ID.

I use a 20oz bottle, wedged under it and propped on the serpentine belt, after the filter is loose enough to remove by hand I hold the bottle with my other free hand so it doesn't move and make a mess.

There's a nipple (I guess that's what it's called) on the underside of that small reservoir area where your filter is attached. That's where the black plastic/rubber cap would be. Remove that cap and voila.

That aluminum shield that partially surrounds the filter is an oil catch type funnel. At tbe bottom of it should be a rubber cap that slides off. Then just put an empty water/soda bottleunder the drain hole while removing the filter. The excess oil will flow down into the bottle.

here is a oil changing hack that some people won't like here but here goes, if you let the truck sit over night before an oil change(not in winter) my experience has been the filter is empty.

I'll be keeping my build thread updated. The next step is dry fitting everything and then disassembling it again for paint. I'm going to have them painted the same blue ribbon metallic as the truck.

Anyone have a link for the sticker labels for the spod switches? I couldn’t find them on Amazon.
