Before 1998 there was no "TRD" package. Prior to that it was a separate option

I actually heard from several Toyota people that the 1st gen Taco's from 95.5 to 97 were not that popular.. and thats why you really don't see a whole lot of them for sale.. Any idea? It would make sense then that they chose to make the PreRunner as well as the Limited to broaden its appeal as well as changing the face of the truck..

you dont see them for sale because the people who bought them are still using them!or running them to the ground..

x2 when I bought my truck it was only on craigslist for 20 min before I called and when I bought it the guy "Origional owner" said he already had 5 other people coming to look at it if we backed down.

And the truth shall set you free!!!

    POSTED BY: ENOLA GAIA

As far as I can tell from Toyota factory documentation, the locker was never offered on 4-cylinder automatics - period.

I've seen claims (e.g., at TTORA) to the effect that there were a very few built in the earliest year(s) until Toyota decided it was a bad idea. However, I've never seen proof of this.

The e-locker was introduced with the 1996 model year on "... 4WD Regular Cab models with manual transmissions."

In the following year (1997) the e-locker was offered more widely " ... as an option on the Xtra cab 4WD model for U.S.A.. except 3RZ–FE engine model with automatic transmission."

From 1998 onward the factory options / spec documentation clearly excludes 4-cylinder autos (which would include all 3RZ PreRunners) from getting the e-locker - either with the TRD Package or as a standalone option.

You should have a power ant and mirrors also where the SR5 does not.

Interesting. I had a 1995 SR5 that did not though it had power locks and windows.

Either you guys have the Limited or someone added the mirrors and antenna.
I bought the antenna and some connectors to wire into the factory hook ups but lost interest before I had time to do it. The mirrors were going to be way $$$.
Still have the antenna, relay and connectors sittin on a shelf though I don't know why.

    That is a 1998 right?
That is when they added the TRD package which had power mirrors and a locking rear if I remember correctly.
