Plus that bottle would be damn near too cold to hold. He gave that beer a sweater, beers love sweaters!

Anyone have a big green egg? Debating if it’s worth it. Need to replace my grill, and I want a smoker.

The lids can crack too if not handled properly, so I’ve heard. Sounds like it’s worth learning how to deal with them though.

Bought my 1st BGE in October of 2009. It was pricey but after cooking on it I threw my gas grill away. I have burned over 7,000lbs of charcoal in my large, Mini and Chimera BGE.

I have a Visions ceramic grill, it's about a 1/3rd of the cost of a BGE and it does everything I need it to do.

Visions grills carry a lifetime warranty on the ceramic parts of the grill to the original purchaser, not sure about the BGE.

I've smoked a lot of salmon and trout, but am assuming that you want to do exactly what you said and smoke A salmon. @Aloha Scout just did a fantastic job with one on here awhile back that is almost exactly what I use for brining. Hard to go wrong with soy sauce and brown sugar with salmon.

At the risk of starting a Flame War  a lot of my friends have a BGE. And are pretty fanatical about them.

Then again those that have pellet poopers seem to be also and the more people spend on their equipment the more they seem to justify what they spent. Just an observation, and none of them turn out food any better than the other it is the cook not the cooker that makes the difference. Once you know your gear at least, no matter what it is. Fire. Food.

If you do a search for kamado big joe vs primo oval xl vs xl BGE you will find a lot of discussions out there. The Big Green Egg is usually dropped out of the running pretty fast. If I had to go to a ceramic for both grilling and smoking it would be a Primo Oval XL. But I don't have to and will stick to a Weber Smokey Mountain and Weber Kettle because I can't justify the price difference. Or a difference in the finished food.

Bottom line is it is the chief that matters the most. Get what ever floats your boat is my suggestion. After a certain baseline spending more money doesn't mean better food.

I don't even think BGE would cover stupidity either. The cart for my visions grill is very sturdy. I have repositioned it several times on my deck and it doesn't move in the cradle.

BGE put out good BBQ, no questions about that. It's more about if you wanna invest in one. They are expensive...extremely expensive. They look awsome in your backyard for sure and make people jealous lol.

Looking at the BBQ I make now in my weber 26 I doubt switching to a BGE would make my BBQ any better. For the amount of money a BGE is I'd rather get a stick burner like a Yoder Cheyenne or Witchita.
