Ticking cant be good right

So for the past couple days when i let my truck warm up the engine has has this werid tick to it, take it to the dealer tuesday i didnt know if this was normal considering i dont even have 2000 miles on my truck an bought it last month

 

Is it just at idle? It could be the injectors. DI can be a bit noisy especially when its cold out.

 

Mine is ticking like crazy in this cold weather. I have less than 2000 miles on mine also, so I'd say it's normal. These engines are noisy beasts.

I remember a V6 that I had in a 1998 Honda Accord. The only thing you could hear while it was running, with your head stuck in the engine bay, was the slight clicking of the injectors. Man that engine was quiet.

 

Does it sound like a stuck valve? I'd be surprised if it was that though.

If it is more of a "knock" it could be the lifter...but I'm not a mechanic.

 

Mine has a loud ticking noise and i took it into the dealership and they used their absolute favorite phrase “we couldn’t duplicate the issue” and i bet if i attempted to take the issue to corporate i would get the typical “it’s a normal characteristic of the truck”

 

People on the interwebs call a ticking noise as a normal "Taco tick"...

 

I have a sportbike that makes a ticking sound apparently its normal and called the Yamaha tick. Wouldnt be surprised if this is the tacoma tick. Kinda catchy

How about engine oil level. I remember when I was a kid I had multiple VWs that when the oil got low they would tick like crazy.

I noticed ticking today too, bouncing off the wall in the McDonalds drive-through. (Don't judge me.). I've been in that same drive-through many times (ok you can judge me a little) and don't recall any ticking. It's 5 degrees out today, lending to the "when its cold out" theory.
