Mine started a weird vibration about a month ago. I only notice when I hit about 50-55. It’s not super bad but I know the truck and this is definitely new. Went to les schwab and they said the weights were off all 4 rims. I had just been in there probably within 2 months prior getting rotation and balance so they are the ones that put them on and I told them that. They said well the roads are getting bad this could be part of it bla bla bla regardless I left and still had same issue. Accidentally came a crossed an article on this recall, or whatever we are calling it. Have appointment with dealership Thursday. Got a list of recalls they are going through.

Curious if this is for higher speed vibrations? I just have a slight vibration from a dead stop then nothing.

I made an appointment and took mine in and was told there would be a $110 diagnostic fee if they did not find anything. I went home and called Toyota Corporate and was told "Yes" you will get charged the diagnostic fee if they do not find anything wrong with your "Propeller"! I protested but they said if I am charged, they will see what they can do, BULLSHIT!

    miles, lots of them
Toyota of Orange (Orange, CA) said there would be no diagnostic fee if they did not find anything. They did replace 3 u joints though. They would not replace the center bearing unless I paid for it.

so everyone is bitching and moaning about wear items and wether or not they can be replaced by toyota..... good god man.

60 bucks for 3 spicer u joints WITH zerk fittings, a free rental "ball joint / u joint" press from autozone, 6 pack of beer and a couple hours of your time and you can replace all the u joints on your rear drive shaft and never have to deal with it again.

5-8 pumps of grease every 5k miles when i do my oil change is what mine get and id bet there is zero slop n wear in them.

I grease mine every oil change.Did not get a letter yet,but not sure if regular cabs are included?Built in Oct,2010.

I will say something about the crappy front ADD actuator. It works when it wants to,only have 49,600 miles on it,but 2 years out of the time. Some manufacturers give exceptions, but who knows?

    How whiney can you get?

Toyota specifically states that parts are not to be stocked for this bulletin, and the letter received states that dealer can charge diag for verifying what's causing your vibration.

Dealerships are pretty free to do what they will in the repair side as long as they abide by a few rules within their franchise contract. Personally I think it is really sad for charging a diag. fee for a short test drive session, I think that is poor business practices and a symptom of the larger dealerships. The smaller dealerships here in NC where the people that own it are very close nit with the local community are very customer oriented. No matter the brand and they really go above and beyond in trying to accommodate customers and be fair. I would be looking for a new dealer that is much more customer oriented.

If Toyota has released a recall, TSB, or a warranty enhancement based on an item that can break and cause any safety hazard and they try to charge a diagnostic fee, call the consumer protection agency and report them. Then tell the dealership you reported them and will not be getting the diagnostic service and any failure pertaining to that recall, TSB or warranty enhancement will result in a class action suit with evidence from the consumer protection agency, i.e. your report.

If they check their known trouble area and it is fine, THEN THE PROBLEM YOU ARE EXPERIENCING IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM! If you want answers from them about how to solve YOUR PROBLEM you have to pay the going rate

None of these indicates the ability to waive a diagnostic fee especially for TSBs which have nothing to do with recalls or warranty enhancements. We use TSBs in the independent shops as well. The warranty and recall diag. fee can be a gray area and yes you could report but it is best to try and work it out with the dealer first. The franchise contracts dictates how this works you may be able to call them and get them to waive it but by doing that you may burn bridges at the dealer and have it so they don't want to help you any for anything. Because they may be completely within their contract but then Toyota USA trumps that just to keep someone happy and it pisses them off.

Toyota Canada or Regency Toyota don't know which one here in Vancouver refused to do the Warranty Enhancement on my 2010 because I have a 2 1/2" lift kit. I phoned Toyota Canada and got the same answer so I am waiting for a Supervisor from Toyota Canada to call me back. I would be interested in knowing how many people have been refused, we should start something going against Toyota.

Since you lifted it you may not have a chance their escape is going to be that lifting changes driveline angles. This is a simplistic answer but is what they can use as an out. If you read the letter it mentions this as well as the "standard" warranty. If a dealer or manufacturer they can really play hard ball and say any modification no matter suspension etc has an effect on the whole vehicle thus "voiding" the entire warranty. Now if you have a good dealer that understands and is good will still cover warranty on the lets say the electrical system when a lift was installed but not the suspension system. Hope that makes sense. Fine print in the warranties is all the outs that manufacturers have for getting out of honoring warranty.

I have a regular cab '11 which was built in May of 2011. Since I bought it used in 2013 with 22k it has had vibrations around 60-65mph(with two different sets of tires over 40k miles) and also has a periodic strong vibration on deceleration(usually at lower speeds on surface streets). I can't make it happen, but usually experience it a few times a week randomly. I am taking mine in for an alignment next week and will ask about this ZH2 action, but as mine is not within the build time frame don't expect to get anywhere.

Drove 45 min to my nearest dealer to have this checked. When I arrived they then told me I could be charged a $100 service fee if there is a problem not covered by Toyo.

At that point although I was not comfortable with it I went ahead because I knew the u joint was bad. I was right. So no fee. Unfortunately I have to go back for the work because they didn't have the parts. I even tried to make sure they were prepared to do the work when I scheduled the first service. I told them what was wrong and that it is a huge challenge for me to get there. They have since rescheduled me twice because the parts have not come in. Sucks making arrangements to accommodate their schedule twice for nothing. Hoping the third time is the charm.

So did we ever figure out if this is only for 4wd trucks? I haven't got a letter for this, but I have a PreRunner.
