He was literally in the middle of the trail, not stuck. We were going to tow him to the top of a hill so we could work on it, then mine went bad too.

Spray a shit ton of starting fluid on the gears and light them on fire a bunch of times :)...

I don't know how concerned you are or familiar with pulling the third, but you could always drop the 3rd member and pull the ring gear off and slap it back together for the drive home.

Or at the very least get the metal chunks out of there.

Sounds like some shady shit going on. 2 factory rear ends randomly exploding. Hmmmmmm. But it gets gears and lockers put in so good job Tim! Haha

Made it home. It only took about 65 miles before they went completely silent. Up until then, it sounded and felt like I was dragging a railroad tie down the interstate. Another 60 miles and it was completeky quiet though. I suppose I’ll be driving a front wheel drive truck for awhile.....

It was really weird. The trails at Windrock aren’t really all that aggressive. We were riding trail #16, which is a black, but it was relatively tame. The FJ blew his rear on the smoothest portion you can imagine, for no apparent reason. He was on a slight upgrade and we thought we’d pull him to the top so we could access and go from there. As soon as mine started pulling, it blew. Luckily, we were high up on the mountain and mostly needed to descend to get out. A private property owner let us come through a gate and work on the rigs to get them able to drive home too. Crazy day!!!!

34 years old. Never had a 4x4 truck until now. Got my first chance to use the 4x4 as it was intended yesterday (other than wheeling). Snow issues, nothing major but had the fam in the truck. What an incredible difference. All I can is....actual control over the vehicle, yay. I felt it slide, once, then felt the front grab.

Could really use some tires. God they suck.

    Alright fuckwads.

20 sets of eyes and fingers helping is better than 1.

THE TRUCK SEARCH HAS OFFICALLY BEGUN.

    Spend. My. Fuckin. Money.

The idea of this is CHEAP. Whatever I can find, that is not totally fubar'd, for as cheap as I can get it. That means....a rolled over Taco that hasn't been to terribly crunched up, I have seen some. A Taco with any "blown" part that someone is to lazy to fix, engine, tranny, rear end/diffs. One with a zillion miles. Whatever, flooded, fire damage.

As long as it's fixable and not massively frame damaged.

The 05-08s are all 10+ years old now. One in shit shape, one just sitting somewhere, I am hoping I can get someone to come off of. The luck has gone well with all this, trying to ride it a little.

I do keep an eye on "Copart" but would prefer to find something off a private seller. Not into hassles and hoops.

For the most part, Windrocks trails are appropriately labeled. That's good that the black trails aren't insane because there are still black diamond and double black diamond. Plus you just came from AOP where the trail labeling system starts on black diamond. Haha that park will be undrivable in 2 years if they don't maintain it. There were trails we did last year that we didn't even attempt this year.
