Would this be possible? I'm looking to replace my factory TRD sport seats in my 2010. Would a set from a 2016 work? I assume there would be issues with the airbags or sensors? Just wondering if anyone had done this. I may give it a shot if it won't be too much hassle.

I am also Curious. My 2012 stock seats kill my lower back for some reason, And I am in shape and 34 years old. This should not be a problem.

Is it just me or is the cab the same on the 3rd gens? The doors and windows look exactly the same to me, I bet the bolt holes for the seats are exactly the same.

Ive had the truck about 10yrs and 100K miles, and this is coming to light for me too.
I wonder if they are degrading (foam).

Trd seat material are not the same as base models. I also believe the trds have higher bolsters.
I know them by looking at them, but im not sure if the padding is the same or not.

I have a buddy that doesn't like to ride in my Tacoma, he says the seat hurts his back. I dunno, they feel fine to me.

My back hurts too from my seats; I suppose its just different for everyone but majority says they are uncomfortable and I agree. I wish we had more adjustments or better seats.

You'd figure for a $30-40k truck the seats would be more comfortable..... or even heated/cooled..... or even something other than manual.... meh oh well that's 1 less thing to break I suppose

Curious if it is a size issue, I'm 5'10", 200lbs and I think the seats are fine.

I'm 6'3", 220lbs, and I've always hated the seats. Even on the initial test drive, I thought the seats felt uncomfortable. But I loved the truck too much to let that change my mind.

I would love more comfortable seats. I'm in my truck way too much.

I think the TRD seats are really comfortable. I’ve always found the Tacoma to be a great trip vehicle because of how much comfortable they are. I have 2 bad discs in my back, and the seats never cause me problems.

My driver seat has been lifted in the front about an inch with spacers, so it's possible without those I'd complain about lack of thigh support. The seat was already that way when I bought the truck.

The rails are 17 1/8" from outside to outside if that helps. Picture attached.

I’d only replace with 3rd gen seats if OP just needs to replace worn out stock seats.

I would not bother putting 3rd gen seats in if more comfort is the desired outcome. As far as I understand the difference between 3rd gen and 2nd gen TRD seats is just aesthetics/shaping of the seat. Just as many people complaining about comfort in 3rd gens as 2nd gens.

If comfort/adjustability is desired that is a whole other ballgame. Otherwise there is zero point in replacing like for like.

Arb front bumper, warn winch, All Pro rear bumper, OME up front, OME and All Pro Standard in Back, ARB locker, 34 x 10.5 KO2's, 17" Level 8 Trackers, and fancy single piece driveshaft.
Reading this has made me more motivated to try putting some 1” memory foam under the seat cover. I would love to see if a power seat from a 4Runner would swap in. I’ve searched a lot online to see if anyone has ever done it, but I haven’t found anything.
