I would say it certainly ranks right up there. Not sure if it's as good as a Tacoma 6' bed though.

Should probably take that thought over to the Long bed- Short bed thread and see how it pans out.

My 1st to 2nd was a little clunky for a while (4cyl, 5 spd). I now have about 15k on her and it is much better but still would rather not shift fast. Drive it like a truck and not a sports car and it's pretty nice.

I went to drive a new DCSB OR 6MT last night. I was very impressed with the manual, the clutch was much softer than I anticipated.

Yeah, I felt the same way when I was test driving the 16 and 17 6MT's. Never drove a 2nd gen manual so I can't compare.
However, once I got used to my 17 DCSB 6MT, driving my 1st gen Taco feel like it's a a horse and buggy technology.
I have to drive my 1st gen for about a half hour solid to get my muscle memory to understand it is actually normal.

i really like the TRD. it's just right. i added a TRD intake also for some extra sound to help guide my shifting. the TRD catback doesn't have any nasty drone or nasal sound like some are said to have... but i haven't checked out any others in person.

The clutch feels the same as the 2nd Gen but the 3rd Gen gearbox itself is buttery smooth compared to a 2nd Gen

When it's freezing outside, I usually let the engine warm up to 120°F (needle starts to register at 100°, the first line starts at 120°). The warmer engine reduces the stiffness of the clutch a lot when it's cold.

Warming up the engine doesn't warm up the gearbox. That does suck that you couldn't get the going.

Warming up the engine will warm up the gearbox. Not just heat from the engine but also the gears and shafts in the trans. are turning in the gear lube.

Whoa, a use for "clutch start cancel" button I hadn't heard yet. Maybe we should make a list.

That is a very small amount compared to the truck moving under load. Basically, a cold block conducting head around the bell housing to a mass of very cold lube?

A block heater would be much more effective than 20min of idling.

I have one also. While my Daughter and I ran into a store on a cold day, the Wife and other Daughter waited in the truck. I left the key on, in neutral, and hit the button. That way, if they got cold, the engine would start.

True, but 10 min at idle before driving when it's below 0 makes a big difference when shifting. When it's above 0 I usually only let it run a minute or so before I take off. Always felt it better and more efficient to warm up on the road. I live in the country so not much repetitive shifting until up to temp.

I let my truck warm up until the idle drops to its lowest setting which is about 600rpm. After that, I will gently drive no faster than 40 mph until I'm at optimal temp.

Not a bad practice. Don't really need to unless really really cold. You can inch her up to cruise within a mile or two. No harm and no foul. Damn we have had stupid cold here for more than a week. Seen 31 below without the wind.

We don't get temps down below 20 degrees very often, or for very long. Haven't experienced colder than mid upper 20's with my 17 yet, but even a those temps I just start the truck, go clear the windows and once the windshield is clear enough to drive I drive away. I keep the revs down and just drive. Everything warms up just fine.
