    Immobilizer? Try your spare key.

I tried the spare key and its the same problem. I do have a aftermarket remote starter installed. Could this be an issue?

Could be. I have no clue how to troubleshoot though.

I had this happen on an 07 Silverado. Ended up being a wiring issue (corroded) to the fuel pump.

I’d check for wiring issues as well.

Yes they did install the module. It has been working fine until just a few days ago and I called the people who installed the remote starter and they said they don't think its a problem with the starter but a problem with my truck they told me to unplug it and try to start the truck with it unplug and it started then i plugged it back in and it worked as normal. Then the next morning it wouldn't start even with the remote starter unplugged. That is when I checked the gas cap and cleared the code and it started. So it seems like a coincidence that the truck started after I did these things and there is still a real problem

I cleaned it and giving it time to dry off before I attach the battery and try to start it.

Very unlikely. Clogging fuel filters tend to cause problems first at higher fuel demands, not idle. IE you feel symptoms at highway speeds (loss of power) long before you have any low RPM issues.

A lot of good responses here so far. Sounds like you have a combination of things that could be the culprit.

Get an OEM gas cap and see if the code you've had for a year (!) clears up.

How old is the battery? When they go, weird things happen...

How long since spark plugs changed?

Possible. I am going to go on Friday to have them remove it or replace it.

I have a new OEM cap coming in the mail. Hopefully that fixes something

Truck has 280k and I haven't change the plugs since I bought it one year ago. ( not sure when they were last changed)

The battery also came with the truck. Doesn't look too old

I just re connected the battery and after cleaning the throttle body and terminals the truck fired right up with super high idle which I read was normal after cleaning the TB. So now I am thinking is the dirty TB the issue or is it just warmer? It is now 10 degrees compared to earlier at 0 degrees.

It seems like there could be a lot of different problems here. Gonna go to the gas station now to fill up premium gas

The computer had adjusted itself to running with a dirty TB. Now that its clean(er) the comp is trying compensate. It should level out.

Stolen from google but it explains what you have going on.

It is not uncommon for late model vehicles to stall after the battery has gone dead or has been disconnected.

The engine computer has a basic idle speed control setting for when the engine is new. As you drive the car, deposits build up on the throttle body, which restricts the air flow and reduces the idle speed. The engine control computer compensates for this by opening the idle air bypass valve to achieve the correct idle speed. The computer stores this new bypass valve position in its memory. Over time, this can become a fairly substantial adjustment, but the change occurs so gradually, you will never notice it happening.

Unfortunately, when the battery is disconnected, some late model vehicles will lose this learned idle position, which will cause the vehicle to stall.

Clean the deposits built up on the throttle body (Throttle Body Service) using aerosol brake cleaner and a shop towel. This will allow the default idle air bypass valve value to function correctly. The idle learn procedure will begin again as it did when the vehicle was new. Some basic repair knowledge may be necessary to complete this procedure.

Intersting. So maybe for some reason my truck is losing its memory once and a while and that causes it to keep stalling. Well now that my TB is clean it will always start. Thanks!
