    Yep, 440lb harbor freight model!

Lowering it was actually pretty smooth. I always lowered it on the truck using the 2x4's so those were what would touch the bed rack first. If I were lowering the bed rack as well, I'd probably put some type of rubber or weather stripping on the bottom of the rack so that's what would make contact to the truck first.

A few mods here and there and counting....
This is exactly what I'll be doing once time permits. It has the OEM look without being flashy. Looks great man. Lets see some shots on the truck!

Made my own simple bed stiffeners, a lot simpler which is what I was looking for with the platform

It attacked to a tow hitch wick is not designed for the stress recovery goes through. Hitch pin breaking and you got a flying missle.

Did this actually suck the top of the bed sides back in? I like the idea of them not being super bulky.

I want to do some sort of stiffeners, but hate how all of them stick out so far and make the tailgate opening narrower.

Installed Baja Designs squadron sports last week and they worked fine until I turned them on last night and the left one didn't work. Dreading getting under all the road salt to see what's up

Sure I’d agree however the worst I’ve ever heard of is a hitch pin bending and nothing worse. And adding on to that all aftermarket bumpers mount the same as the OEM hitch, so not sure how they are considered any better.

I understand what you are saying in regards to being purpose built versus using something it wasn’t meant for, but again I’ve never heard of an entire hitch just ripping off. It’s decent size welded square tube mounted same as any aftermarket bumper.

I have seen hitch failure, but have seen and done it once on my truck the pin breaking, sending the clevis flying. And yes the bumper install in the same manner as the hitch but its a straight line clevis to frame trail. I have seen those fail but not as often usually from faulty recovery gear. Im just saying that it is not the safest recovery item but better than the oem recovery points.
