I used to feel the same way but once you meet a cool cat it changes your outlook. My dude is basically a dog. Having a dog and a dog-like cat is endless hours of entertainment.

i got a cat when i lived in Asia 25 years ago, she had a kitten, and i brought both back to US and that mother/daughter duo followed me around for the next 20 years like a couple dogs. great pets for me, and i got the privilege of taking care of both of them their entire lives from day one to year 21.

we had a cat when I was growing up acted like a dog. It would follow us walking in the woods and growl when it smelled or sensed something. Usually we turned around and went a different way.
