I'd say so. Especially if it's a portable device. Plenty of time for someone to walk off with it and find a nice cozy place to browse it's contents.

How to break people from leaving their desktops unlocked... Walk up to their desk and send emails to the entire department about how you love them and want to hug them forever.

Had a friend forget to log out of his machine at the end of the day. Didn't have a job the next day.

At my last job, if you left it unlocked and the sysadmin got to it before you did, the sysadmin would sit down and send a department appointment email out from your account inviting everyone to lunch on your dime.

We've invited people to tighty whitey parties, gay pool parties, etc.... you don't leave your computer unlocked more than once.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
This to the maximum. Complacency kills. Wife thinks I'm always hiding things I'm like "I just don't fuck around with security."

    Holiday Weekend
Data Center on he other side of the country has UPS/Power issues.
Everything reboots but switches seem to be having issues and there is not connectivity.

Power was in theory resolved around 9:42 PM PST. It originally went out around 2:30 PM PST.
We just got remote support with TV and one of the switches was only powered up for 51 minutes as of 4:10AM PST.

Only been at this place since September and man does it need work.

Hey guys, trying to cascade a router, the home router is a Motorola unit via AT&T and the router I would like to add is a Linksys smart router.
I was planning on just running LAN to LAN and I got the IP set on the secondary router however the primary router (it has an allocation for cascading in the settings) wants both the IP and network Address for the secondary router, I don't know what a network address is or how to find it, can anyone help me out?

Afaik, the IP address is the network address. It may want the subnet or MAC address.

I have an older Linksys(Cisco) E3000 as my secondary router. I specified the IP and Subnet I wanted to use, and disabled DHCP as the new router will assign an IP to any device connected to either router.

I realized I have 100 mbps internet at home now. If I test at the modem, I actually get about 120 mbps but my router can't handle more than about 85. Time for a new one with a gig WAN port, I guess!

Also, work let me buy a 5th gen ThinkPad X1 Carbon. It is awesome! Thin, light, feels very well built, battery life is great, keyboard is typical ThinkPad perfection...I'm beyond thrilled with it.

I pay for Spectrum 300 Internet and constantly get 350+ download.

    upload_2018-1-1_16-53-34.jpg

When they upgrade network speeds across the board the usually just bump up all the tiers.
I bought my own modem and run a Cisco router so its a bit more powerful hardware then the average home setup.

For what you're getting for down, the up is pretty pathetic. Jelly of your down though.

100down/50up here. Havent measured lately, but I'm not on computer often when at home. Do enough that crap daily. Mainly use android at home. The up makes a difference at certain times when I'm actually on a puter.

Not sure why ISPs give us slow upload speeds. My plan is 300/30. I don't upload a lot, but would be nice to have a faster speed when I do.

They don't want you running BitTorrent server (or other servers) @ home. Residential customers are "consumers" or content and don't need upload. Businesses are "content" creators or require business to business comunication which requires higher upload speeds and they charge a pretty penny for it.

Its purely a business decision and has nothing to do with available technology

    DOCSIS Maximum speeds are:

    3.0 2006 1.2 Gbit/s 200 Mbit/s Significantly increased downstream/upstream data rates, introduced support for IPv6, introduced channel bonding

    3.1 2013 10 Gbit/s 1–2 Gbit/s Significantly increased downstream/upstream data rates, restructured channel specifications

    3.1 Full Duplex 2017 10 Gbit/s 10 Gbit/s Introduces support for fully symmetrical speeds

I could only wish to use my own modem. I know the one they provided, could reach 10gbps, if only I could access to reconfig.

On the plus side, if it breaks, they are on site within an hour, tops. Very good service.

I have Spectrum 100/10. It was 60/5. I'm lucky I have it, my town must have made a deal with Time Warner at some point. I'm quite rural and most other towns like mine don't have anything but 3 mbps DSL if they're lucky.

I probably have an old Cisco gig switch I could throw IP services firmware on and use, but it'd just be so overkill. I have no desire to put any effort into my home setup--I'll probably just buy the cheapest Netgear router I can find with gigabit ports.

I'm starting to look into Linux. What is the best Linux flavor that ya'll recommend besides Ubuntu?
