I have a viper on both of our Subaru’s and like them. I’d get one for the truck as well if it wasn’t a manual.

Just took my truck to a self serve car wash to clean it up from yesterday and all this road salt. I can’t wash it at home because it’s 13° out, so I had to go to a place with heated water. By the time I’d rinse off one side, the other would be starting to freeze! Brrrr.

I have this one in my Subaru. I like it, but I would not recommend it. The little LCD remote is a little too bulky, and the 1/4 mike range isn’t much realistically.

    https://www.viper.com/car/securityr...el-lcd-2-way-security-and-remote-start-system

I should have sprung for the next one up, which is 1 mile range, 2-way and the smaller remotes.

In my wife’s car, we have the super basic 1-way remote start, only good for starting the car. The remote is nice and small, but the range is also the 1/4 mile. Works perfect for her though as she only uses it to start it in the morning before work.

Isn't there a button in the cab that overrides requiring the clutch to be to the floor for this purpose?

It's pretty amazing in the winter time. Between the winter gas and warming my car up, I lost about 4-5 mpg but that's worth it to me to stay warm

Not quite. You have to turn the key all the way to on, press the button, and then start the truck with no clutch. There are ways to install a remote start on an MT, but I always park in gear (both out of habit and necessity) so that's why it's not feasible.

I getcha! I always parked in gear with the E-brake on for safety when I drove a manual trans too. I never wanted to be "that guy" that came out to find his ride in the middle of the isle in the parking lot because it rolled backward out of the parking spot!

My last tank of gas I only got about 250 miles on. Couldn't figure out why until I remembered I had probably spent two hours idling while we were Christmas light chasing!

On a truck related note, my Caliraised flush mount light bar brackets and relay holder should be here tomorrow. Once they get here the light bar install should go quickly with the harness my wife also purchased from Microtuning.

You’re going flush mount? What’s going to be your method of attack for cutting out the bottom grille?

I might just try to remove the whole thing...if I can't, I will probably go at it with a sawz all.

I need to get a utility knife anyway in preparation of insulating my basement. I will give this method a try. I too trimmed the wheel well liner with a utility knife when I briefly ran 285's.
