Official 2017 NCAA Football thread

all I know, is that Rose Bowl is one of the best football games I've ever watched. Turned the Sugar Bowl off after the 1st quarter, partially to go to bed, partially because I knew it would suck in comparison lol

 

Absolutely replaced the 2012 SECCG as the best game I’ve ever seen

 

and I was at that SECCG!

 

It was a 4 point game in the 3rd quarter... I wasn't convinced of our win until later in the game than that.

I like your confidence in Alabama, though!

I took a somewhat irritated shower this morning after I checked the scores hahaha

 

I think that despite what they say the criteria is, when it's a close decision they are going to pick the team that "they" feel will be a better game to watch. Therefore it will never be a cookie cutter decision that people can try to exploit.

In theory the only better way would be 8 teams, but then the same argument today would happen for the 8 spot. IMO 4 is plenty, I don't think the teams 5 and up should have a shot, all that creates is a Cinderella story and not the best overall team. My .02

Um, I'm confused... you say that Bama did not prove that they deserved to be there by beating the #1 team, but that they deserved to be there since the committee picked the top four correctly??

If I recall, the committee has stated multiple times that it really comes down to picking the best four teams. Period. They use the conference titles and all that to figure it up, but it is plain after last season that they are going to pick the four teams that they deem (by whatever thought process they have) as the four best teams to play in the playoffs.

I don't understand how you can argue that you don't agree w/ the methodology but you still come to the same end result as the committee did. I guess that just seems stupid to argue that the way they correctly decided was not correct.

 

Ok...so, you agree that the best 4 teams are in....(even though you'd have left Wiscy in) but you think the committee got it right, even though you'd have left Wiscy in, and you dont like the way they got to the right 4 teams, but they got the right 4 teams....except for Wiscy..

The statement "conference championships matter" was stated over and over last year and this year in selecting the teams.

Yes, the committee says they want to get the 4 best teams in there, but who are the 4 best teams? that is only determined by OPINION.

Yes, it is my opinion that if you line Alabama up against other teams that more times than not they will beat those teams. Does that make them one of the 4 best? Maybe.

Wisconsin actually finished undefeated in the regular season but lost to a damn good OSU team in the Conference Championship game BUT AT LEAST THEY WENT. Alabama sat on their couches.

Is Wisconsin one of the top 4? I think so. Would Alabama beat them more times than not? Probably, but the way the season fell Alabama was rewarded for a LOSS. I argue that Wisconsin's loss deserves more credit than Alabama's did.

Do I think Alabama is better? see above.

I never said I think Wisconsin deserved it more, but per the "depends on when/how your loss" argument....Wisconsin should've gotten the nod. OSU > Auburn. Playing in Conference Champ > Sitting on your ass.



Y'all are so butt hurt that I disagree with your team being chosen. I mean damn, UCF should really be in it at 4, they were at least able to beat Auburn.

I'm kinda just wanting actual, reasonable clarification with definite top 4's and why....since you are so against the committee's process and procedure for picking. lol.

You keep waffling with saying the committee got it right, but then they didn't. Not really sure how it can be both.



As the committee is tasked with putting the best 4 teams in, as stated, I think it is reasonable that if Alabama would beat Wisconsin most of the time, that Alabama would be considered the "better team".


Really man, no butt hurt here. Your opinion matters just as much as mine. (None). And it wont change the fact that Alabama is playing for the Natty, again.

 

Maybe its just a difference in semantics?


I dunno. Maybe if we were sitting around a camp fire drinkin about it, it would come across better, or I need booze to understand. Not sure which.
