The auction part doesn't scare me, but I've gone to them since I was 6 years old. I traded a 5 yr old Chevy Colorado on mine and they just auctioned it.

Every day in MA for 5 yrs I've driven mine and it is better than my 4x4 Chevy was. Now look at the winter we got 2014

 

Two things I'd do differently if I bought another Tacoma...

4-wheel drive for sure!

And probably a manual transmission...

 

No idea.. i just know what the DMV report says..

 

Honestly i haven't used my 4wd in the snow yet.. In 5in it was fine with the new tires i bought, and besides, it's a lot of fun drifting around corners..

 

13k isn't a great deal... that basically my truck.. i would have taken 13K for mine 4 years ago, no questions aksed.

 

Only 4x4 and PreRunner SR5s (the 6-lugs) have ever gotten alloy wheels. 1st Gen 5-luggers had wheel covers until 2001...

2001 refresh is when they started getting steel wheels...

 

Scares me on a tacoma, since they hold that resale so well, it makes me nervous when a company auctions off a vehicle with such high demand. Not saying there was anything wrong with your colorado, but the taco tends to have a pretty high following.. which typically makes them sell as soon as they hit a lot, or as the OP said, jack the prices way the hell up and sell it on a lot.. just seems fishy to me..

 

and why does it have junk tires on it.... factory destination le tires are good for well over 34K

 

Its a 4 cyl... thats why.

Plus its an aution vehicle. They sell for a bit lower than sale. Some dealer just wants to get rid of it. But its close to KBB


I wouldn’t go for it because of the epic low mileage. Thing was never driven.

 

To be fair the AT20 Dunlops that came on my Tacoma said they were good for 36K miles, and i only got 17K miles out of them.. They were pretty much crap though from the factory.. Nothing new since most toyota products come with crap tires.

 

You mean the Dunlops? I replaced mine at 31K.

 

What's wrong with 4-cyl trucks?

 

i can not disagree on the dunlops. saw tons of threads on those. but this truck would have came with firestone destination le's. my current set has something like 40K on them and are still in good shape. it's a solid tire. imo.

Lower priced than a 6 cyl

 

I put 16-inch Platinum Apex's on the my truck, which required larger tires.

I've still got the original 15-inch wheels with original 2009 Dunlop rubber sitting in the garage. Replaced on Halloween in 2013.

My Colorado had just had the top end replaced...was a common thing. I had the paperwork but the dealer didn't really keep anything 5 yrs old on the lot much less Chevy

 

When your dad buys a brand new truck, lets you drive it for 7 years, and then signs the title over to you no questions asked, doesn't really matter what's under the hood...
