I am just curious which configuration seems to be the most "demanded" and least depreciative package for the 3rd gen?

And for the hell of it, which color will be will be the easiest to sell, or lose its value the least.

They both cost the same exact price up front so I can't imagine that used value would differ much. Silvers, and White would probably be easiest to sell as they are most common.

Don’t bring a two wheel drive truck north, don’t bring a rust belt truck south, you should have no problem selling it at a good price as long as you don’t make it look like a pos.

Here is blue book on each for a 2017. I based it on the options that my truck has with 5000 miles, excellent condition. This is based on my zip code of 91326.

It didn't have an option for Sunroof on the Sport. I'm not sure if the Sport has it available with the Prem & Tech package like the Off Road. The first two KBB estimates are for the exact same configuration. The last one is for the Off Road with the Sunroof added, which mine has.

    Config
    • DBSB
    • Premium & Tech Package with JBL
    • Tow Package
    • Auto

    Sport

Thank you! I probably should have done this myself, wasn't thinking the KBB would already have trade in values for the 2017.

That is crazy the OR is worth $1800 more. I'll do this in my zip code and compare

Looks like it holds true that the OR is in higher demand than the sport.

    Interesting

Seriously OP, another thread? Please just buy a truck already and quit asking so many damn questions...you've been starting the same threads since May 2016.

Yes, the Sport is available with the P&T package. I would have thought the skewp would have held more value.

KBB is just a baseline and is driven by the local market. What you actually get could be very different depending on the buyer you find.

HAHA. You'd think based on the hood trading thread. But the demand for the skewp maybe skewed for the heathens that frequent this forum. LOL

My understanding is Sport with P&T package has a sunroof, otherwise it doesnt.

OP - they all show up as SR5's on a VIN search so just get what you want.

Makes me wonder if deals could be had CarMax since they are known to get Taco trim levels wrong. But usually their errors are the ones that claim SR5 on the SR's.

Not sure but the OP can do that himself on the KBB site if he wants. I simply based it on the config of my truck and it's a shortbox.

Statistically it makes no difference. Just get the truck you want and enjoy it. Who knows what will happen over the course of your ownership that will have an effect on value? Miles? Door dings? Hail? Someone vomits in it? Trail rash? Mods? And maybe the guy reading your craigslist ad in 2025 is hot and emotional to buy a white truck. Or a stick shift. Or one that had seat covers... basically who the hell knows what will influence the sale. Buying a truck based on a few bucks of potential difference in resale value is just pointless.

Access Cabs can go ahead and knock off $2-3k.

    Ask me how I know...

Based on my config for the exact same options with the only difference of Sport ($26,434-29,651) vs. OR ($27,243-30,553), the difference was about $900 higher for the OR, on zip code 96707. Totally based on the demand and since I still see a 2016 Sport selling for low $30k, most people dont even go by the KBB. Just whatever the buyer is willing to pay...

    EGG ZACKLY.

KBB is a gauge but that's about it. In the end, it all boils down to the person that comes to buy your car. Look at what Tacos, especially Pros, sell for new. I'd never pay MSRP for a car. NEVER. EVER. I don't care how popular it is or how cool it may be. However, there is no shortage of people that will pay MSRP and even thousands over MSRP for a TRD Pro.

And though resale is important, it shouldn't drive your decisions on which car to buy. Buy the car that you want and brings you the must joy, utility or whatever. That's worth more than a few hundred dollars more or less in resale value several years later.

Really depends where you are..... In Hillbilly country the OR is likely more in demand..!!

On Wall Street, it's either the Pro or Limited.....!!

In Canada it's generally Sport LB 4X4...!! I've only seen 1 short bed Taco in my area since the 16's came out..!! Very Regional...
Then again there are those "off-roaders" that get the OR model, but we don't see too many around here..!

Here, in this zip code, we go DCLB 4X4....and NO access cabs allowed.. hehe...!! :amen:
