I haven't researched the wire gauge or anything but my buddy made an adapter to go from his 7pin towing harness to his compressor. just plug in and turn it on. If the wire gauge is big enough, that would be the easiest solution and no need to add any more wires.

yup. I thought it was damn genius when I saw it. I think he's using the 400p compressor with it and hasn't had issues.

I like that, but then I wouldn't get to cut a hole in my bumper, wire up some plugs, and point and proudly say "Look what I did!"

My compressor draws 28 amps according to the product info on Amazon. I have a 4-pin harness. I wonder what the gauge is. I think I need at least 10.

It would be since I keep my compressor in the back, usually right inside the tailgate.

Oh fuck ya. Please inquire on details and report back. That would be convenient as fuck. And would reach back easily to the trailer.

I think you need the 7 pin hot lead from the truck battery to a 30A breaker and then to the connector. I was just going to say I'll go check out mine, because I did the entire setup from scratch with marine grade stuff on my first gen. But since I just remembered I sold that truck...FUCK. I still have leftover wire from that, but would need to check into the 2nd gen tow package spec. I'd have to imagine it is on par, and the compressor would be drawing amps at the upper limit.

Pretty sure the trailer wires are tiny. It would be a good idea to upsize the wires.

I ran 4 gauge to the back for the ARB dual, but previously purchased a flush mount trolling motor outlet for my portable. This is the one I have:

    https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-T10136-Gauge-Trolling-Connector/dp/B0080IGPFI

That being said, the dual is in the garage, next to the plug, and I currently have nothing installed. Still using the 300p with alligator clips...

I ran 4ga to my hard installed single arb into the cubby. I had a feeling the stock trailer harness wires are a bit on the small side but worth a look. If i were to do it, I'd probably just upsize power and ground the wires like you said.

I dont think the stock harness wiring is a heavey enough gage for this. Could be wrong, but i dont remember mine being over 14g.
You would want 10g at least for that lenght at 28amps. Better to be 8 awg but mine has run on 10 no issuses in the rear of the bed. It would suck to burn up your stock harness.
