I'm pretty sure you can get the blocks alone for well under $1000....probably get one locally in good condition for less than $500....maybe even less. Then, buy all the aftermarket goodies and build it right from the beginning. Then, sell the 3.4 to recover some of the costs of the initial purchase and be even on most of it.....

Tacoma started in 95 and the T100 ran until 98. Google is your friend! (or you couldve had a Dad that was the GM of toyota dealership at that time)

And Tacoma ran til 2004... what's your point ?
I love how y'all think that tid bits prove something when I have an entirely mapped out conspiracy theory. Y'all cannot shut me down. Every piece of info you may try to use against me proves nothing as I already know it and have incorporated it into my theory.

See. You still have no clue. You think I think some dumb shot about being better than some other pos. The truth is I don't. I just know the difference between the only gen Tacoma, gen1, 2 and 3 T100 (2 and 3 with "Tacoma" name plate for marketing) and gen 1, 2 and 3 Tundra.

Wasnt it released that the T100 was a research project for making the "tacoma" bigger?

Maybe. But as far as I know, it was intended by Toyota to be a full-size, but intentions and reality are not the same thing we learned... it still had the engine and suspension of a compact and the cab and wheel base weren't big enough to be full-size by the big 3 standards. It was basically a midsize that was ahead of it's time, as the midsize truck market didn't yet exist. Because it couldn't compete in the full-size market, they scrapped it and started work on the Tundra. The true full-size Toyota. And shortly after, the compact market died and the midsize was born. Toyota quickly made a midsize truck to compete. They didn't want to name it after the failure T100 so they named it after the Tacoma, which was the most Americanized version of the cult classic Hilux/Pickup

Toyota is known for being ahead of it's time.....

They tossed the T100 onto the market and got a shit ton of information then changed their line up. Made the Tacoma bigger, and created the Tundra.

They did this recently with Scion. Going so far as to create an entire BRAND, and from it they gathered a shit ton of market information and feedback.

It's the only compact, so yes. That's the entire point. Welcome to the conversation. Tacoma is compact. T100 is midsize. Tundra is full-size.

In all reality, in 2005, Toyota could have put T100 badging and nameplates all over what they released as a "Tacoma" and a Tundra, AND an ACTUAL Tacoma and all three would have probably sold fairly well. By putting the "Tacoma" badging on the T100, people had no choice but to buy the bigger version....and did.

Pre-2005, Tacoma's were one of the most popular, if not THE most popular (cant forget about the inexpensive S10) minitruck.
