You had to mention the quagmire of non-maintained roads. I had all week off last week and it was -30 all week so we stayed inside and I was dying to get out, did not want to stay in all day again on Sunday. Convinced the wife to 'Just go for a little drive'.

Of course my route took us to a non-maintained road, when we get to the sign; :bananadance:

Wife: 'So we are not going down there its -30 out, if we get stuck what are you going to do?'
Smartass: 'We wont get stuck I just want to see' As I engage 4Hi.

    :bananadead:

Not even 1 minute later I have the truck at the bottom of a very steep hill, no turn around, snow only gets deeper forward.

Wife: 'I just said this is what would happen, you cant back all the way up that hill':boink:
Smartass: 'Challenge accepted' As I put it in reverse and instantly put us off the side of the trail and feel the truck sink.:duel:

Last years snow wheeling at Pontypool saved my ass I have to say. I knew not to keep digging with it in Reverse, put that bitch in 1st and go foward back onto the slightly packed trail from 1 other vehicle going down this road. Just took my time and ensured I did'nt go off the trail again going up in reverse, that 300 lbs of sand in the back end sure helped!

Wife actually gave me the 'good boys', warmed my heart :cookiemonster:

Wife: 'Damn, you are pretty good at reversing'

^Group is meeting up in front of Black Diamond Golf Club. Actual wheeling is on @tacoma16's family property further down the same road.

We do not promote trespassing here. Only legal places. Only.

I dont wheel with the local off road club here in North Bay anymore because some of the members choose to lie about the location they are actually leading groups. Which ends up being trespassing.

    THIS.
Given Peter and myself have OF4WD stickers on our trucks we'd be pretty stupid to trespass. its a big thing for the group that they are very against as we both are and all of us should be.

Trespassing just gives the groups that don't want us on trails that we are allowed on fuel to say all off roaders are idiots and dont listen and should be fined bla bla bla.

Leave it as you found it, and don't trespass. Just means crown land remains crown land and MNR don't put restrictions on us using it.

Hey. Thanks for checking. Definitely good habit so you don’t get your self in trouble, or give the community a bad name.

We are going to be on my families property. We will not be trespassing. The golf course location is just a location that people can find on a map. My families property is down the road.

Not to be smart or anything, but you could just buy a regular shackle and paint it.

Forget those, and get one of these! Made in Canada. I have a different brand, but I LOVE my soft shackles. In the winter your hands will love you when you need to use them.

dammit not another thing to get.

These soft shackles are pretty slick!

By the way this company has the P.O.R.N members on their site. Was reading about it in my last copy of 4wd. pretty cool!

I am going to get one of the recovery ropes from them. They call them Jerk-It™ Kinetic Energy Recovery Ropes. I am waiting for orange to be back in stock.

was just looking at those. They make a hell of a difference the kinetic ropes compared to the recovery straps. @Joe23 were talking about them at the last meet.

i want the bubba kinetics. but holy are they expensive.

I didn't realize you're supposed to give a strap time to recover after being used haha. Might be a good idea to have a spare.

Yea after watching more off roading video's I learned the same thing, you have to give them time to recover.
