Easy, cheap mods

anyone have any super easy/ cheap mods done to their 3rd gen? I’ve never really done mods and want some “beginner mods” so that I can get used to working on stuff

I'm like you in that I'm wanting to start small before doing bigger things.

Here's what I've been doing:

Super easy and inexpensive things until I get the Taco paid off.

 

where do i begin... there are lots!
1. Plasti-dip grille/bumper caps/badges
2. add/paint recovery points
3. ditch lights and brackets
4. vinyl decals: tailgate, amer. flag, etc.
5. swap interior/exterior bulbs for LED lights
6. BHLM can be pretty cheap (if youre brave, this one is pretty invasive and a little more difficult)
7. leveling kit
8. seat covers, stereo knobs, weathertech mats...

these are what i could think of off the top of my head, I believe there is a thread in the stickies in 3rd gen tacos where you can see more mods with how-to links.

 

Mud flaps. Sliders. Vent visors. Bug shield. There are millions. Depends on what you like.

 

One accessory to look at is a bed mat. Keeps things from sliding around. I like the OEM Tacoma one.

 

The best thing I've bought so far is the OEM bedmat.

I agree, this has to be the most practical "mod" I've done. It's amazing how something so simple works so well.

 

Its actually incredibly easy to swap the exhaust on this truck. One of the easiest swaps I've ever done. Two bolts, couple hangers. Done in the driveway without a lift.

 

I kept it simple for the last 2 yrs/33k miles.

• LED interior map and dome lights
• Bed mat
• Tonneau
• Husky mats
• Salex console organizer

 

Take that shitty front valance off was the first thing i done. 5 or 6 10 mm bolts and it looks so much better

What are the bed header rails used for?

 

mount a bed rack, or mount accessory mounts like hi lifts

 

Is that the lower part of the front bumper? I noticed my truck has it but many on here do not. Does it just un-bolt? Do you have to take anything apart to get to it?

 

Thats it. Just unbolt it, 10 mm bolts. Bolts are easy to see and takes about 10 mins max
