Whnt posted an article saying the doors are chained and padlocked. Can't get in touch with the owners, and they were posted online to be open today but nothing.

Can’t ecpect some parents to make sure their kids are dressed warm enough, so the local school board has to step in.

Until I moved here, I never heard of “it’s too cold for them to go to school”.

I lived in Tennessee for 14 years and that never happpened.

 

This is the first time I've heard this as the actual excuse. If I was a parent i would be pitching a fit that they are screwing up my schedule because someone doesn't want to get into the cold.

 

But what's the point?

It's not necessarily that it's a big deal, other than affecting some parents schedules, or possibly causing the kid a to have to make it up later in the year.

But it's telling kids "hey when things get uncomfortable, you can just not go".

 

As a kid I wasn't actually. I had teachers that if we missed a class period the next like 4 were hell. I hated missing class, it always put us behind schedule.

Also, some parents are required to be at work at a certain time and it does affect them. Not all have the leniency of come in whenever.

 

Having kids won't affect what I already know.

My dad was affected when schedule changes happened and it was stressful for him. He would have to get my grandma or someone to come be with us. He was a single father of 3.

 

Just because it isn't stressful, or issue-causing for you, doesn't mean it isn't for someone else.
